SINGAPORE: Home Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam pledged on Saturday (Jan 5) that there will be a "thorough investigation" into Platinium Dogs Club, the pet boarding centre accused of mistreating animals.
Platinium Dogs Club was raided by authorities last Saturdayfollowing several complaints that animals under its care had been ill-treated.

One pet owner said her dog had died under the facility's care. In addition, a search is ongoing for Shetland sheepdog Prince, who went missing while he was boarded at the centre.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Mr Shanmugam said the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) and the police are investigating “several serious allegations” against Platinium Dogs Club.

“Singaporeans can rest assured: there will be thorough investigations and there will be due process. Anyone who has engaged in illegal acts will face the consequences,” he wrote.
“There are also allegations that some people, in response, have also acted wrongly, and taken the law into their own hands. Those allegations will also be investigated,” he added.

On Wednesday, a 40-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was hit by a car in front of Platinium Dogs Club.
According to the police, the man claimed that the vehicle hit him as it was reversing out of the pet boarding centre, a semi-detached house at 7 Galistan Avenue in Bukit Panjang.

The man was among a group of people who had gathered outside the pet boarding centre, the police said. He is believed to be a volunteer who was helping one of the pet owners who had come to the centre to confront the owner.
The 33-year-old driver of the vehicle, along with a group of seven women and four men, including the injured man, are assisting with police investigations.

Don't understand the kneeling. The dog ran away, missing, gone and it didn't tell this heartless bitch where it was going. Why are you kneeling to her and asking her?

End of day, the victims were investigated for illegal assembly and they did not do anything.
In sg you need to stay in landed and drive jaguar to stay safe?

It was a clear cut case of illegal assembly. I hope the dog owners will be sent to jail to send a strong signal against illegal assembly. We sinkies treasure our peaceful society. Illegal assembly will scare away investors and tourists.

The police classified the case as illegal assembly, so they were not just there to get back their dogs. Even if they wanted to, they still need to respect the law. There is no excuse to take the law into their own hands by having illegal assemblies. There are legal ways to get back their pets.

truly bo_chap.

the maids brg the dogs to pee and poop becoose owner veLy the buzy.

some sinkies don’t have maids to watch their pets for them, and if they go on vacation anyhow dump them at “pet hotels” they find on a search engine. just because it’s called “platinium” (not platinum) doesn’t mean it offers platinum service. and having “club” in its name doesn’t automatically qualify it as exclusive and exceptional. at least do some leg work and investigate the premise in person before committing most loved buddy to their care. for loving pet owner, one look at premise can detect tell tale signs of abuse. sinkies are easily fooled and deceived by lofty titles and high sounding names. can bet more sinkie women will lose their savings, wealth, lives, virginity, and unbroken hymens to fraudsters and fakers.

More
Two days before her 27th birthday, Joanne Png was in Bangkok, Thailand, for a family vacation when she received bad news: QQ, her 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, was unwell and likely on the verge of death.
A staff member from pet boarding facility Platinium Dogs Club, where Png had entrusted QQ and her other 11-year-old pet dog Louis to, had sent her a seven-second video clip before noon on Wednesday (26 December). In it, QQ could be seen lying listlessly on the floor, fur soiled with dirt, a far cry from when Png last saw QQ and left her at the facility six days ago.
“I was shocked and devastated to see QQ in that state. (The staff member) told me that my dog looked like it was dying and had pooped on herself,” Png, who is self-employed, told Yahoo News Singapore. “(QQ and Louis) were active and lively before we sent them to the boarding place.”
Png, who was about to do some last-minute shopping for souvenirs, immediately cancelled her plans. As she was due back in Singapore the next day, she contacted her brother and a close friend back in Singapore for help – her brother was to retrieve Louis from the boarding facility and her friend, to meet up with the staff member at a vet clinic.
Less than seven hours later, QQ was pronounced dead.
Allegations of negligence
Png joins at least three others who have made detailed allegations this month against Platinium for negligence, prompting other pet owners to come forward with their own negative experiences.
Dental nurse Elaine Yong left Pika, a 13-year-old male Shih Tzu, under the care of the boarding facility from 8 to 12 December.
The 37-year-old detailed her experience in a Facebook post on 20 December, alongside photos of Pika: “He looked very unhappy, very uncomfortable, very dirty…I found that there were abrasions on the front of his two legs. His testicles also showed inflammatory symptoms. His penis’ skin showed bleeding.”
A doctor’s memo for Pika dated 13 December – seen by Yahoo News Singapore – indicated that the dog had developed “multiple focal infected skin patches with visible pus”.

Administrative manager Priscilla Loo, 45, had on Tuesday also shared a similar post on social media, warning dog owners “to be wary” of Platinium, citing a friend’s experience. Her friend only wanted to be identified as Choo.
As of press time, Loo’s Facebook post garnered over 600 reactions and 1,400 shares.
She told Yahoo News Singapore that Choo, 47, an owner of a six-month-old Chow Chow called Whisky, had initially engaged the company’s services for 12 days from 9 to 20 December. The stay was cut short by two days when Platinium messaged to request for his owner to send him to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or a vet because he “could not walk”.
In photos attached to the post, Whisky’s fur could be seen matted with dirt and his body covered in sores. In a report made by Choo to the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) and seen by Yahoo News Singapore, a vet concluded that Whisky had “a punctured wound on his mouth”, a high fever and sores that “could not have developed overnight” but were the results of “prolonged exposure” to urine and faecal matter.
Choo also made a police report last Sunday. When asked, the police confirmed that a report has been lodged.

Facebook user Gwyneth Lee, who boarded her Japanese Spitz Glacier from 18 December to 25 December, shared a similar account on Thursday: “I was in complete shock initially as Glacier was almost unrecognisable. Her white and fluffy fur had become extremely yellow and as we stepped closer, we realised that she reeked of dampness and dirt.”

In response to media queries, the AVA said on Thursday that it has received feedback on the matter and is looking into it.
Calls to boarding facility unanswered
Multiple calls made by Yahoo News Singapore to the handphone number listed on Platinium’s website went unanswered. A Google search showed that the number was listed on the websites of two other businesses: flower delivery service LaFrenchRoses and Raffles Tuition Centre.
While there are no addresses stated on the website, dog owners whom Yahoo News Singaporespoke to, including Png, said that their pets were brought to a private semi-detached house at 7 Galistan Avenue.

At least three dogs were retrieved from the premises of pet boarding facility Platinium Dogs Club to be cremated, according to a worker at a pet cremation company.
When contacted by Yahoo News Singapore on Monday (31 December), the worker at Mobile Pet Cremation Services confirmed that the company took the dogs from Platinium’s premises at 7 Galistan Avenue on 11, 24 and 25 December, in response to requests made by a woman who had phoned his company.
The worker, who declined to be named, said the phone calls were made from a mobile phone number found on Platinium’s website, which has since been taken down.
The dog retrieved on 24 December was mass cremated while another dog taken away on Christmas Day was individually cremated, according to the worker, who could not recall the type of cremation for the dog which was retrieved on 11 December.
It was unclear whether the three dogs belonged to Platinium or that they were cremated with the permission of their owners.
According to the worker, the woman had not specified the breeds but provided the dogs’ names to Mobile Pet.
Raid by the authorities
A number of dog owners had alleged that Platinium had been negligent in caring for their pets, with several dogs returning to their care in an unkempt state and suffering from various ailments. One dog owner said QQ, her 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, had died after the female dog was placed under Platinium’s care.
The allegations sparked an investigation by the Agri-food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) and a raid of Platinium’s premises by the authorities.
On Monday, at least 10 dogs and a rabbit were removed from the premises by the AVA and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). By 3pm, all animals had been removed from the premises after a locksmith was engaged to open the door to a locked room where the last batch of animals was housed.

Dogs, rabbit removed from Platinium Dogs Club
18 dogs, including eight-year-old husky Frosty, and one rabbit have been removed by the AVA from Platinium Dogs Club at 7 Galistan Avenue, as of today. All animals have been removed from the premise by 3pm. At least two other dogs and a small cage were also removed from the premise by Platinium's staff in the morning, say eye-witnesses: Read our story here.
On Monday night, the AVA gave an update of its investigations into Platinium. During inspections of Platinium’s premises, the AVA found 18 dogs and a rabbit. Yahoo News Singapore understands that these animals were found during the raid on Monday and an earlier one on Saturday.
“To safeguard the welfare of the animals, AVA has taken temporary custody of the animals until their owners return. We have been contacting owners of the dogs to claim their pets, and some of the dogs have been reunited with their owners,” the AVA said.
Neighbours whom Yahoo News Singapore spoke to on Monday said they also witnessed “two dogs and a small cage” being removed from the premises by a woman, said to be the operator of Platinium, at 3am and 8am, respectively.
A neighbour, who declined to be named, said that “several” residents have complained to the authorities repeatedly since July to express their concerns about the premises. “I was distraught by the howling of the dogs,” the neighbour added.
Another neighbour, who too declined to be named, said that the semi-detached house was especially noisy this month. “I could hear many dogs whining and barking throughout the day,” he added.
IT team lead Prashanth J, 33, rushed down to collect Frosty, his eight-year-old husky, one of the dogs removed from the premises on Monday afternoon. He had cut short his holiday in Batam by one day after receiving a call from the AVA on Sunday. Frosty was originally slated to be boarded with Platinium from 28 December to 1 January.
“I was shocked when I received the call from the AVA. I am glad he is okay. It’s an experience to learn from, to do due diligence and verify information (next time),” said Prashanth.

Authorities raided the pet boarding service on Dec 29 following several complaints that animals were ill-treated under its care.

One pet owner has said that her dog died under the facility's care, while a Shetland sheepdog named Prince has been reported missing while he was boarded at the centre.
"The AVA (Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore) is continuing investigations into the Platinium Dogs Club, including making further inspections," said Ms Sun in a Facebook post.

"The operator has also been arrested and is assisting with investigations on alleged animal welfare-related offences."
The 30-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday, said AVA, in response to Channel NewsAsia's queries.

Ms Sun said that investigations will be comprehensive and that "enforcement action will be taken on any animal welfare infringements".
