¶7. (S) MM Lee said he wishes the USG well in its efforts on North Korea, but he would be surprised if the North Koreans agree to give up nuclear weapons. They might give up a first-strike capacity, but they want nuclear weapons in case the USG decides to seek regime change. They are psychopathic types, with a “flabby old chap” for a leader who prances around stadiums seeking adulation. MM Lee noted that he had learned from living through three and a half years of Japanese occupation in Singapore that people will obey authorities who can deny them food, clothing and medicine.

I do not think, we bother much what the old man says...but we are much more interested in what others through wikieleaks, say about the father, son & the holey goh and their members, that would be interesting.

Don't expect anything flattering. In public they will try to out praise and out compliment each other. Behind their backs, it will be no holds barred. Same as office politics.

MM Lee obviously did not practise what he'd learnt - he did not deny Singaporeans food, clothing and medicine.

Looking at the large number of shopping centres, food stalls and queues at polyclinics, Singapore surely has no shortages of those three items. Yet, most Singaporeans and foreigners visiting or working in Singapore obey authorities - from not spitting in public places to chewing gums or flushing the toilets? What's the secret?

The "flabby old chap” could learn from MM Lee. Maybe the "flabby young chap" taking over may do a rethink and visit Singapore! They could also entice MM Lee to build a "Suzhou SIP" in North Korea! The Americans may like that.
