INGAPORE — An 18-year-old woman has been arrested for her suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases in which victims were offered “nude materials” in exchange for money.
In a news release on Sunday (24 January), the police said they received a report on 28 October last year from a victim who claimed to have been cheated after responding to an online advertisement offering nude materials upon payment.
After the payments were made via bank transfer, the other party became uncontactable, added the police. Follow-up investigations eventually led to the teenager’s arrest on 21 January. She is also believed to have been involved in other similar cheating cases.
The police have advised members of the public to be wary of friend requests or online listings offering sexual services, as they may be fraudulent. For more information on scams, members of the public can visit scamalert.sg or call the Anti-Scam hotline at 1800-722-6688
Those convicted of cheating face a jail term of up to 10 years along with a fine.
