I've only one thing to say...
VOTE FOR THEM SOME MORE!!!
VOTE FOR THEM SOME MORE!!!
Look at Iraq..remove the leader and CHAOS!
Look at Singapore's formative years....people complain that PAP restricts them but there is a need to prevent people from running around like headless chickens without direction
Look at Philippines....a closest ally of US democratic style. A flop of leaders one after another while the country lay in ruins
The historical success of liberal democracies amongst NA, Eur and the Antipodes is showing signs of cracks if implemented wholly in current times.
Times are changing and the democratical process and institutions should move in tandem with the dynamism of today's world.
I think what the guys are saying is to carry out actions based on principles. If you throw out the students, then do not entertain or allow their dictators and their relatives to enjoy amenities of Singapore. Its a despicable regime by all accounts. We're on a slippery slope. What next? Would we allow Tibetans to demonstrate against China here? You think our leaders would allow it? Nope becoz we know China is the powerhouse and dont like others to meddle with their affairs.
So let's be consistent here.
Not all countries are suited to the implementation of pure liberal democracies and neither the idea of authotarianism would fit in today's context. A mixed political philosophy must be adopted to fit with the changing needs of society..
Your reply appears to be neither here no there. You appear to want to have your cake and eat it. The critical issue appears to be this: Can a State/Society become a successful first world developed State/Society on a sustainable long term basis based on a model not in line with the liberal democracy model(the general main points)? The jury appears to be still out on this one.
