Genie Yamaguchi – a 30-year-old Singaporean influencer – has pled guilty to charges linked to items stolen from Don Don Donki at Orchard Central, reports Shin Min Daily News.

According to Mothership, Yamaguchi and her friend, Lee Suet Keay stole a total of 27 items from the Japanese supermarket in August last year. More than $600 worth of products were said to have been stolen – most were makeup and skincare related.

The pair had put the items in their cart and left without paying. A staff member later alerted his manager who reviewed CCTV footage to confirm the theft.

Yamaguchi has almost 15,000 followers on Instagram and you can read more about this case in Mothership's report, including more information on her friend Lee.

Mee sua (麵線) is a very thin, salted wheat flour noodle from Fujian, China, known as "longevity noodles" and eaten for special occasions like birthdays and Chinese New Year. It's versatile, served in savory soups (like Taiwanese oyster mee sua) or stir-fried, and absorbs the flavor of its broth, often with ingredients like mushrooms, shrimp, and pork. It's important not to overcook it to avoid a mushy texture.
Key characteristics
Type: Very thin, salted wheat flour vermicelli.
Origin: Fujian, China.
Cultural significance: Eaten for birthdays and festivals as "longevity noodles" (长寿面线).
Flavor: Mild and wheaty on its own, it takes on the flavor of the broth or sauce it's cooked in.
Common preparations
Soup: Often served in a rich broth with ingredients like oysters (Orh Ah Mee Sua), mushrooms, pork, and eggs.
Stir-fried: Can be stir-fried with ingredients like prawns, mushrooms, and vegetables.
Dessert: A sweet, soupy version is also made in some Peranakan households.
Cooking tips
Don't overcook: It cooks quickly and can become mushy.
Soak first: Some recipes suggest soaking the dry noodles in hot water for a few minutes before adding to the final dish.
Blanch separately: Some cooks prefer to blanch the noodles in a separate pot of water to prevent the soup from becoming cloudy.

A NASA crew of four astronauts will fly by the moon on Monday at the closest distance they will get to the lunar surface during their mission and the nearest any human has gotten to the moon in more than 50 years.
The close approach is the pinnacle moment of NASA’s Artemis II mission, which serves as an elaborate dress rehearsal meant to test vehicles that will be used to help land humans on the lunar surface in potentially two years.
The Artemis II crew will also break the record for the farthest distance any humans have traveled in space, surpassing the distance traveled by the crew of the Apollo 13 crew in 1970.
A NASA crew of four astronauts will fly by the moon on Monday at the closest distance they will get to the lunar surface during their mission and the nearest any human has gotten to the moon in more than 50 years.

The historic moment is set to occur just after 7 p.m. New York time on Monday, part of a several hours-long flyby where the astronauts will snap images of the moon’s far side – a vantage that is never seen from Earth.

The close approach is the pinnacle moment of NASA’s Artemis II mission, which launched to space on Wednesday, April 1, sending NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, as well as Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen, en route to the moon. The mission serves as an elaborate dress rehearsal meant to test vehicles that will be used to help land humans on the lunar surface in potentially two years.

As they approach the moon on Monday, the Artemis II crew will also break the record for the farthest distance any humans have traveled in space, surpassing the distance the Apollo 13 crew traveled in 1970. That moment is set to occur around 2 p.m. New York time, prior to the flyby.

NASA officials have downplayed the significance of breaking the record.

“You want every mission to keep exploring and keep learning new things and getting farther from Earth than we’ve ever been before is a fun statistic,” Emily Nelson, NASA’s chief flight director, said during a news conference ahead of the launch. “But there are a lot of other things we’re going to learn on this mission that are going to be a lot more exciting.”

Even still, NASA has a countdown clock in mission control ticking down to when the crew breaks the record.

The official flyby period will begin at 2:45 p.m. New York time, which is when the Lockheed Martin-built Orion capsule carrying the crew will orient its windows toward the moon, allowing the crew to start their observations and begin taking pictures.

At their nearest distance to the moon, the crew will come within roughly 4,066 miles of the lunar surface, according to a new estimate by NASA. From the crew’s point of view, the moon will appear roughly the size of a basketball in someone’s outstretched hand.

NASA is hopeful that the astronauts will be able to use their eyes – “the best cameras in the universe” as NASA flight director Judd Frieling put it during a news conference – to see parts of the far side of the moon that no human has seen before.

“It turns out there’s about 60% of the far side, I think, that has never been seen by human eyes because of the lighting conditions,” Wiseman, the commander of the Artemis II mission, said before launch. “Apollo always wanted that light on the front side of the moon for their landing and launch capabilities.”

NASA scientists have been working to finalize the science objectives and list of lunar targets they want the crew to pay attention to during the flyby. By comparing how certain targets look from different angles and under different lighting conditions as the capsule moves, they hope the crew can help scientists learn more about how the moon’s surface evolved over time.

“The human eye, especially when it’s connected to a well-trained brain, which I assure you these four people have, are capable of, just in literally the blink of an eye, making nuanced color observations that Apollo observations told us can tell us something scientifically,” Kelsey Young, NASA’s Artemis science flight operations lead, said during a news conference on Saturday.

During the flyby, the Artemis II crew will also enter a communications blackout when they pass by the far side of the moon, blocking their line of sight with Earth. The blackout is expected to last roughly 40 minutes, starting at 6:47 p.m. New York time. Similar blackouts occurred during the uncrewed Artemis I mission and the Apollo missions.

The Artemis II crew will also break more than just distance records on Monday. Glover will be the first Black astronaut to travel to the moon, while Koch will be the first woman to do the same. Hansen will also be the first Canadian to travel to the moon.

Oil prices rise as OPEC+ hikes output but warns against supply disruption
OPEC warned that repairing energy facilities, such as those damaged in the Middle East war, is “costly and takes a long time”.

TOKYO/ VIENNA

Oil prices climbed on Monday on continuing fears of supply losses because of shipping disruptions in the key Middle East producing region from the US-Israeli war with Iran.

Brent crude futures rose $1.71, or 1.6 percent, to $110.74 a barrel by 0057 GMT.

US West Texas Intermediate crude futures gained $0.71, or 0.6 percent, to trade at $112.25 per barrel.

On Thursday, the last trading day before the Good Friday holiday break, WTI settled up more than 11 percent and Brent soared nearly eight percent in volatile trading, recording their biggest absolute price increase since 2020.

The Strait of Hormuz, which carries oil and petroleum products from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, remains largely closed by Iranian attacks on shipping after the war began on February 28.

Because of the Middle East supply disruptions, refiners are seeking alternative sources for crude, particularly for physical cargoes in the US and the UK North Sea.

On Sunday, Trump ratcheted up pressure on Tehran, threatening to target Iran’s power plants and bridges on Tuesday if the strategic Strait of Hormuz is not reopened.

Still, some vessels, including an Omani-operated tanker, a French-owned container ship and a Japanese-owned gas carrier, crossed the Strait of Hormuz since Thursday

On Sunday, OPEC+, consisting of some members of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies such as Russia, agreed to a modest rise of 206,000 barrels per day for May.

However, that decision will largely exist on paper as several of the group’s key producers are unable to raise output due to the Iran war.

Russian supply has been also disrupted recently by Ukrainian drone attacks on its Baltic Sea export terminal. Media reports on Sunday said its Ust-Luga terminal resumed loadings on Saturday after days of disruptions.

OPEC+ also warned that repairing energy facilities, such as those damaged in the Middle East war, is “costly and takes a long time”.

For the second month in a row, OPEC+ countries, which include key oil producers Russia and Saudi Arabia, as well as several Gulf countries that have been targets of Iranian air strikes, agreed to raise quotas by 206,000 barrels per day (bpd) from May.

But OPEC+ warned that damage to energy infrastructure increases oil market volatility, potentially hitting global supplies well into the future.

Its statement also stressed “the critical importance of safeguarding international maritime routes to ensure the uninterrupted flow of energy”.

The text did not mention the Iran war directly, but the conflict, which has roiled global energy markets and caused prices to surge, clearly weighed on the decision.

In addition to hitting key energy facilities in a number of neighbouring countries, Iran has virtually halted ship traffic through the vital Strait of Hormuz by threatening to attack tankers passing without permission.

That has badly restricted exports from the Gulf region, and raised questions about whether oil can reach global markets even if OPEC+ members in the region manage to ramp up production.

Before the war, about a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) passed through the Strait.

Last month, the eight-strong V8 (Voluntary Eight) group in the OPEC+ cartel also raised production quotas by 206,000 bpd.

On Sunday, the V8 said in a statement that “any actions undermining energy supply security, whether through attacks on infrastructure or disruption of international maritime routes, increase market volatility” and make it more difficult for OPEC+ to manage global prices.

Color printers, including inkjet and laser models, use Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (CMYK) to produce color documents, typically offering features like Wi-Fi, duplexing, and scanning. Popular options in Singapore include the HP Color LaserJet Pro series for business, and Epson EcoTank or Brother models for home, often priced between $400-$800.

Key Considerations for Color Printers
Laser vs. Inkjet: Color laser printers (e.g., HP LaserJet Pro) are ideal for high-speed, high-volume, and crisp text. Inkjet printers are generally better for high-quality photos and detailed images.
Key Features: Look for wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth), automatic two-sided (duplex) printing, and high-capacity ink tanks to save on long-term costs.
Popular Models in Singapore:
HP: Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3303fdw (high-speed).
Epson: Ecotank L6460 (ink tank).
Fujifilm: ApeosPrint C325 dw (compact).
Maintenance: Color laser printers have four separate toner cartridges (CMYK) and separate drums, which should be replaced roughly every 18,000 pages to maintain quality.
