Four men were arrested at Orchard Towers on Saturday (2 December) morning for allegedly using abusive language against a police officer and obstructing officers from carrying out their duties. A video of the incident that has been circulating online shows a man sitting on the ground near a 7-11 outlet at Orchard Towers while a police officer attempts to lift him by the chin while asking him to stand up. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said that officers on foot patrol came across a dispute taking place at Orchard Towers in the early hours of 2 December. “A 35-year-old man was arrested for the offences of public nuisance and uttering threatening words towards a public servant. Three other men aged between 25 and 37 were also arrested for obstructing police officers from carrying out their duties,” said a police spokesperson, who added that investigations into the matter are ongoing. If found guilty of using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty, a person can be jailed for up to four years and/or fined.
