A rainmaker has the power to bring in valuable new business that sustains and grows the economy of S'pore. I doubt that CECAs with counterfeit degrees and dubious qualifications from Uptron University in India, are rainmakers. Perhaps only of the quality of the foreign worker watering plans under a heavy downpour (see below).

CECA FTA granted lower tariffs for imports of Singapore goods into India and Singapore removed restrictions for Indian professionals to work in Singapore.

Typical Singaporeans don't really benefit from it and face more competition for their rice-bowl.

20 years on, the Indian businesses further exploited CECA and went on to open companies in Singapore to rebadge China/Taiwan goods (which are taxed higher in India) to declare them as MADE-IN-SINGAPORE.

The companies include a Chinese energy company, a Chinese healthcare group, and a Shanghai-based biotech group, said the sources, who have direct knowledge of the matter, but declined to be named or to name the firms as the plans are not finalised.

CGS International, a unit of state-owned brokerage China Galaxy Securities, is working with at least two China-based companies to list on the SGX as early as this year, according to Saw. He declined to name the companies.
