Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Ladies and Gentleman,
Let me introduce myself, my name is Wee. I now live in Australia and had been settled here for the past 20 years or so.
Singaporeans are living in a one-party state. It is not obvious to them because they have not experienced life outside Singapore in truly democratic countries like Australia or the West.
Singapore is all about one man’s neo liberal idealism and his strong stubborn ideology the last 50 years. Once that man is gone, it will start to tumble free fall downwards simply because the man and his ideology is just temporary. We should be wary of people who are stubborn and insist on their own views as being absolutely correct and beneficial to the country while the rest of the views by others are just noise. Because such a setup is the recipe for an epic collapse. That man and his ideology will bring himself down and the drag rest of the country with him down the pit hole.
In Australia, we have independent bodies and commissions or govt backed NGOs to look into issues regarding society at large. We have a healthy democracy and multi-party system, ready to replace the other if the dominant one fails.
Singaporeans live in a state where one man’s ideology single-handedly and fully dominates and permeates all aspects of society and living. Under such a setup, if a failure were to occur, there would be no recourse. Take a look around u and see who u are surrounded with. You do not live in the European Union. U live in a region rife with corruption and human right abuses. Your Asean neighbours will not help u. They only need Singapore to make money and once it is not viable any more, they will abandon Singapore.
For those who are relatively comfortable in life, it is not permanent in Singapore. The Singapore economy will not last forever because ultimately the one who controls natural resources is KING, for which Singapore has none. Soon the surrounding countries will get their act together and leave Singapore in the dust. Whatever riches u have in Singapore is tagged to the fluctuating value of currency (paper money) and inflation. Singapore money does not have any real value and is not backed by natural resources. It is not even backed by any innovative enterprises u find in some Asian countries like Hong Kong, South Korea or Japan. The lingering question here is, if your riches are backed by something which is non-tangible, how long can it last?
Singapore is a freak temporary success in the developed world. No economist in the developed world wish to endorse as successful. It has a purely corporate setup which will not last long. Just look at what happened to America in 2008 financial crisis? Assets which were backed by non-tangible value crashed the whole country. America can pull itself out, but what about Singapore?
I hope Singaporeans realise the grave seriousness of the situation and cannot afford to be selfish anymore. They will need to work together or risk being dragged down the pithole by a single man’s ideology. One has to look no further than the arab world – Sadaam Hussein’s Iraq, Gadaffi’s Libya, etc.
Urgent action is needed by 2016, else the consequences will be disastrous.

hi Wee,
hope you doing fine downunder.

by the way,SG will always be a non-natural-resourced country no matter who
the gahmen are?

so,to my simple mind,SG needs capable but more importantly SELFLESS
LEADERS,NOT SELF-SERVING ONES!

THE TROUBLE here is the present gahmen have unwittingly destroyed whatever
‘RESOURCE’,human resource that is,that have been ‘grown’ here in the first 40
years after Independence.

i am sure if good and capable leaders arise form among us,old sinkies, and
start to make rectifications to all the fault-lines created by the PAP here in
SG,SGs can still hold up high amongst our neighbours by some REALLY INNOVATIVE
PUBLIC PLANNING TO FURTHER GROW OUR SOCIO-ECONOMIC achievement.

asit is,TOO MANY FROM OUR LOYAL AND HONEST LOCAL TALENT POOL – our ONLY
RESOURCE – have been made MOST REDUNDANT; what a real WASTE of NATIONAL,not
one-man,EFFORTS!

[h=2]Can we learn any lesson from the Hongkies in fighting for our

Hong-Kong-Pro-democracy-Protest-300x200.jpg
HongKong – 430,000 protest for one man one
vote

The Hongkies were fighting for their rights for one man one vote on the
streets. They took this fight very seriously to prevent the gradual erosion of
democracy over time by inaction. And this fight is going to be a tough one as
the right of one man one vote is a western version of democracy that does not
match up well with parent China’s communist system of one man one vote.

Can we learn any lesson from the Hongkies in fighting for our rights? About
5,000 Sinkies turned up at HongLim to stage a protest against the 6.9m
population that is seen as suffocating and pressurizing on the limitations of
land in the island. The 5,000 was not even a quarter of the 21,000 turnouts for
a Gay Party in the same venue.

Mind you, Hong Lim is a safe place designated for such peaceful protest. No
one will turn out if it is a street protest like in HongKong. I am quite sure
about that. This is best seen by every organizer of events in Hong Lim assuring
the people to come as the protest was legal, ie, they would not be arrested. A
street protest is illegal, you know what that means.

I think another reason why the number of Sinkies turning up at Hong Lim was
so small must be the fact that there are really very few Sinkies left in the
island. That must also be the reason why in govt statistics, Sinkies are always
lumped together with PRs as locals. I think to really separate the two numbers
will scare the wits out of the remaining Sinkies here. How many Sinkies are
really left in the island and how many by 2030?

There will be no protest of the size like in HongKong to ever happen here
unless it is organized by the Govt of the day, with all the approvals and
support, including free meals and free transportation. Maybe there is really no
reason important enough for the Sinkies to want to protest as everyone is so
happy. Life is only difficult and troublesome when they cannot buy their Hello
Kitty toys.

Maybe missing out on Kitty toys could be more nightmarish and a good reason
for a big turnout in a street protest. Nothing else could command that kind of
emotions and affection.

PS. 17 million Egyptians marched in the streets to demand the resignation of
President Morsi. And the march was quite peaceful without rioting. And so was
the HongKong protest march, with children and old folks tagging alone.

The 60.1% could have made a difference, but instead they chose to return to the same vomit.

The fact that he had migrated to Australia does not detract from the truth of his message.

One ideology have brought us from farms, swamps, urban slums filled with opium dens & fishing villages filled with lazeabouts to a striving metropolis that is today..filled with opportunity & money...

I just love the PAP..

It may surprise some that gangsters aka secret society members are present Spore. It is rumoured that LKY is one of them:confused:

And he still thinks he and his family members are the best................LOL.

:oIo:

Why don't you make a difference first instead of lashing out on a quitter?

How do you know if Wee is not an exile?

Singaporeans are good at keeping quiet when their true-blue brothers try to make a difference. They end up leaving and seeking refuge overseas because no backup local support.

I disagree with hands and legs up! without lky, we probably be now scavenging for card boards in the dustbins or maybe slightly better working in those traditional family business, where all benefits go to the family.
so sinkies be grateful and not be an ingrate.

be sure that we don't get disheartened by this wee guy's discouraging and baseless remarks. i think he wrote this probably he regretted migrating or must be a malaysian chinese. there are always green-eye aliens that we must be wary of. they are just jealous of our success story. btw, australia is nearing recession...

this is coming from the heart of a s'pore lover and a proud pap supporter. :o
