Grab driver giving 150 packets of chicken rice to anyone in need on Aug. 27 at Newton circus car park

Those who would appreciate a meal can head to the Newton circus car park during lunch time at 12:15pm on Aug. 27.

One Singaporean, Teeruk Syah, has started a initiative among friends to purchase 150 packets of Adam Chicken Rice to be distributed, along with mineral water, to those who show up to collect the food.

While Syah said the chicken rice will be given out to private hire drivers, taxi drivers, and delivery riders, it can also be for "anyone" who is "in need [of] a meal".

He added that the his girlfriend and friends had contributed to the meals, and asked for users in Facebook group Halal Cafe & Restaurants in Singapore to share the post.

Those who are heading over to redeem the meal can look out for a silver Prius.

Syah said in his post that he was "just doing [his] part to give back to the society".

Pandemic started after quitting his job

Speaking to Mothership, however, he revealed that he had began working as a Grab driver when the pandemic started, right after he resigned from his job as a civil servant.

The experience has taught him to better appreciate delivery riders, especially after meeting his fair share of rude customers.

Additionally, the boss of Adam Chicken Rice also happens to be his friend, whose business has suffered due to Covid-19.

That was why Syah came up with the win-win solution of donating 100 meals with his girlfriend.

When he roped his friends in, they wanted to contribute many more packets, but Syah eventually had to cap it at an additional 50 servings as the stall could not handle such a large volume of orders.

"Maybe to others a meal is nothing, but to someone who is having a rough time, a meal will fill up their stomach and hopefully let them know that they are not alone," Syah said.

I really don't get this people. Chicken rice turns bad very fast. Why not just pay upfront and get vouchers to distribute?

Good intentions but damn stupid.

It's like adding bird nest into a baby formula. The intention might be good, but the idea is fucking stupid as hell!

This is what many coffeeshops are doing in Malaysia.

Say what you want about the country.... but the people there can survive without a functioning government

Sambal looks absolute delicious. If I may add, instead of the dead looking cucmbers, maybe they should replace it with cucumber salad, with some onions and vinegar or pineapple.
