We finally have an alternative to the various terrestrial radio stations in Singapore -- 170Radio.com. It's Singapore's first Internet radio to take to the cyber airwaves after almost a year of testing and trials. It's free to listen to and in their own words, aims to bring "everything that's edgy, real and of course, authentic" to Singapore.

Listeners can tune in virtually at the 170Radio.com website, and for mobile users, there's a free iPhone app (search for "170 Radio" in the Apple App Store), listed under Singapore on Nokia Internet Radio (which is download-able for free from the Ovi Store) and for Blackberry addicts, it can be found under "Country: Singapore" through Nobex Radio Companion in Blackberry's App World. There's no word yet of a Google Android equivalent, but it's probably not too far away.

170Radio.com currently has four resident deejays on board -- Andy Wong (aka "ND"), founder of ND Entertainment and a former presenter on MediaCorp Radio's Capital 95.8FM station, Vanessa, rabid blogger turned Internet deejay and gossip hound, Kamal, a music consultant and recording industry veteran, as well as Nikko, a pixie-faced aspiring rock band drummer of Chinese/ Japanese/ Indonesian heritage. The station's still on the hunt for more producer-presenters at the moment.

Vanessa is a girl who loves very simple things in life, but can seem 4-dimensional at times. Her love for good food and her monstrous appetite makes her a potential threat to being the cause of food shortages in the world. She loves to travel endlessly, loves the sun, the sand and the sea, and aspires to speak 10 languages. Vanessa has been blogging since 2005 because she had a lot to say, but had no one to say it to! But that's paid off because she has been one of the lucky ones who were chosen to blog for The Straits Times' online portal STOMP's Star Blog since 2008. Music plays a major part of Vanessa's life from a very young age and she is currently the keyboardist of an up-and-coming rock band called EN-X.

From the coolest websites, video of the day, Hollywood celebrity gossip and the latest music that some people may not even know about... She has it all sorted. Catch her on air for all the random juicy news from everywhere! Don't miss out!

170's newest kid on the block Nikko is best summed up one word - ROJAK. With a Chinese/ Japanese/ Indonesian heritage, she was raised in Bangkok for over 15 years before moving to the sunny island of Singapore. Having finished her degree in Recording Arts, the lass once harboured ambitions to be a drummer in a rock band, but eventually settled with making her own music through DJ-ing instead. Her passion doesn't stop at music - Nikko can't get enough of sports, food and sleeping too. Can we ever find something she DOESN'T like to do?

Catch her on weekdays 3-6pm for the chart topping hit from the late 90's - early 2000's!
