Just realized that my International Driving Permit had expired. Is our Singapore driving license accepted in Germany? I'm desperate now cos its Friday and the offices will be close tomorrow.

I'm really desperate now. But reading this from your link looks like got hope

[h=1]Driving Licence Issued Outside the EU or EEA[/h] [h=2]What happens if you carry a licence issued in one of the major English-speaking countries outside the EU? Find out what to do if you have an American, Canadian, Australian or other driving licence...[/h] Non-resident foreigners in Germany may use a valid foreign licence, provided it was issued by their country of residence (a minimum of 185 days per year must be spent in the principal country of residence). Owners of driving licences issued outside the EU and EEA must carry a translation. For a fee, the German Automobile Association (ADAC) can provide a translation of the driving licence, as well as a certification of permission to drive (Zertifizierung der Fahrerlaubnis).

I'm tempted to go back to Singapore tonight to get the IDP in AAS but its a bloody waste of time.

I use my passport and driving lic in EU, drove from France to Germany no problem.

OK thanks to LCB and Chucky.

I called Europcar 4 locations in Munich and 2 said no need as long as it's in English and 2 said need but they sounded uninterested. The finally I called Hertz this man is very patient and told me as long as he can read my license it is acceptable and he gave me example like China license he cannot read so require IDP and mentioned that he had seen Singapore's driving license many times and assured me it is acceptble.

Think I need a drink now. Knn panic for nothing.

Thanks again guys.

they accept sg driving license as long as it is in English................ most car rental will rent their car to you upon showing sg driving license................ I hv done it before

Thank you for that assurance.

I once rented a car with SG licence in Geneva and drove all the way crossing France border to Paris and return without any problem :)

Go AA at kallang. They open on Saturday morning too.

I almost wanted to take the 9pm SQ flight back to do the IDP at AAS in River Valley. But since the Germans told me they can accept license with English I'd dropped the idea.
