*****Why Did the PAP Let This Happen?!*****

The PAP KNEW they were going to issue a lockdown at the 4pm PM address today.
They KNEW that panic buying would ensue because,
they KNEW what has happened in every other country that has issued similar directives.
They KNOW they have the resources to prevent panic buying and hoarding
They KNOW staff at supermarkets would work with them to implement measures to reduce panic
So WHY DID THE PAP LET THIS HAPPEN?

This video is one of several I have received since 4pm today showing long queues outside supermarkets and this one in particular where a FairPrice store closes its shutters against a waiting crowd.
This is all needless and could have easily been prevented with some decent management skills.
Why not deploy an officer (army or police) at every supermarket outlet 1 hour before the PM address? The officers could enforce policies to stop hoarding and ensure queues are orderly and safe.
Notice the lack of masks in the video? Even the staff are not wearing masks despite being in close proximity with a crowd. Most people have not been tested for Covid-19 and so no-one knows who may be sick or not (many people are carriers but are asymptomatic), so why is there not a simple directive for all people to wear masks in public places like stores, public transport and buildings?
We have all watched with dismay and horror the videos from other countries of mass panic buying when lockdowns were enforced, we had every opportunity to do it so very differently and ensure all our citizens feel the least amount of anxiety. Instead we have a government late to the table and even then cannot learn from other nations about human behaviour in times of crisis.
Why did the PAP let this happen?

This video and rant by Lim Tean is precisely the reason why all these non-WP opposition figures never get anywhere. It is a commonly observed phenomena that support for the incumbent government will run high whenever there is a crisis. Ditto Trump or any of the European governments that were severely hit by COVID despite whatever shortfalls and mismanagement.

In such trying times, the last thing anyone wants to hear is some guy complaining and whining about what went wrong. Even if you want to complain, it has to be done tactfully with all the appropriate theatrics to show that you are passionately wanting the government to do better to help the citizens.

This sort of bitching by Lim Tean and any other opposition figure will only appeal to the usual 20% hardcore anti-PAP voters while pretty much pissing off all others and ensuring a disastrous election outcome.
