I am still astounded at the extent of the changes announced in the cabinet and what it means for the various factions and their leaders within the party.

Will the retired Ministers hold their positions or will they have to leave from the CEC. The CEC of the PAP has in effect been gutted , WKS GCT LKY , LHH GY all have lost ministerial power and will I doubt be able to hold on to any party position of power. Who will the factions and cadres behind these personalities shift to ? The Women's Wing will effectively fall to Grace Fu.

What or who are the new centre's of competing powers and how quickly has GCT's people been eroded and or moved out. What happened to TCH to move away from GCT's camp ?

It is also the same GRC that had an MP who was asked to step down in 2006 because of repeated wife battery and another key person stepping down at the next GE was not a good idea.

3) Emeritus because to accord GCT protocol rights and cover MFA functions as GY loss would have been too big a gap for Shanmugam to cover. No ministerial pay though. Mission stipend.

4) By appointing Heng Swee Kiat to MOE, it signals that he is now PM material and will takeover Mindef eventually.

5) Iswaran now takes over as man in charge of the highly secretive Population Secretariat with PMO as cover. This is the dept that manages the population, talent, FT and bringing back of ex-singaporeans and expat Singaporeans back to the country.

6) Lim Swee Say continues to head NTUC which has always been a Minister's portfolio after the departure of Devan Nair.

7) Tharman tale has to be an extraordinary one based on fate. Not in the any scheme associated with the talent stream, it took a court case and he is now a DPM. More to follow.

When you look carefully at the Cabinet lineup, the only new faces are Heng, Chan and Iswaran. And if you look at who are possibly in the Inner Circle, it's basically the same jokers.

The ingredients are the same, the rojak will still be the same. Or no matter how you shuffle the deck, it is still the same cards. talk abt groupthink.

That's the main problem. Policies won't change. The only changes will be the method that they employed to screw S'poreans. 'No porn' Lui is a joke. Only thing is Joo Chiat may finally get a mrt station.

WKS is a lost cause. He probably is the least effective of Ministers and no one can associate a single policy that worked or any achievement with him..

There appears to be a shortage of qualified people or rather, loyal obedient people. We thus have minsters holding 2 to 3 portfolios.

1) Find it strange that WKS could have fallen so far. You become DPM because you can, at a moment's notice, replace the PM. So is it a case of poor judgement (reflects badly on PM) or blind loyalty being more important than capability
2) Good idea to put GCT to help out MFA and good that he is not drawing full minister pay.
3) Lim Swee Say - another loyal subordinate in the WKS mold?

I wonder if basic demographic information like number of PR vs citizens can remain secret with more opposition MPs. Afterall how is a minister going to avoid answering these basic demographic info.

The grassroots rely on the low incomes and poors. Nobody above a certain income of affluence gives a damn to what grassroots or no grassroots unless they want to become grassroot leaders. Some say that Marina Barrage was MM's idea. Therefore no one dares to point to that as cause of flood. So some minister takes the heat. It does not take much to find out what was cause of flood so why no independent study of what caused the flood?

It is the grassroots that have truly put off for many ordinary Singaporeans. As a rule, all grassroots individuals are required to be screened and PA does not pass the poor and the low income. They come from all walks of live including doctors and millionaires. The ones we see are the low-lives. The ones that are well to do tend to be discreet to avoid being identified with the PAP. For the PAP, they were to serve a purpose but they failed.
