Have been watching the thread and looks like people missed out the significance of the reshuffle.

1. BG Tan as speculated during the GE had even jumped over Viv B and captured the influential 1st tier Ministry of Manpower. It must have been a severe blow to Viv B and Kee Chiu. I won't be surprised if Viv B leaves eventually. Though given acting, he is fully accountable. If he was made a full minister, Kee Chiu would have looked back as well as the PAP leadership.

2. Looks like Kee Chiu has performance issue with the key component of his Ministry stripped away. He has also been given the Arts, Heritage and other masak masak duties from MICA together with sports. To lessen the impact they give MOS for Defence.

3. Lawrence Wong has done well and together with Tan is likely to lead after Ng.

4. Grace Fu has been rewarded for factionalism and inner party work. Though a full minister she like Iswaran have not been given a Ministry like Tan, Chan and Wong.

TCJ worked so hard for nothing. He's by far the best of the newbies and yet he get's small fry jobs.

Grace Fu is to appeal to the women's rights people--which doesnt really work. But her instead of Tuck Yew in MFA good.

Somewhat offtopic, I can understand why people think the portfolios that Kee Chiu were given were masak masak but that has largely to do with our mindset that the arts, culture, social security, etc are of secondary importance. But I would like to point out that the recurrent effect of having this mindset explains the dysfunction in our society and the unbalanced nature of the PAP's policies.

If Kee Chiu treats it like masak, masak, these portfolios will continue to be viewed as masak masak. Unfortunately, given how he has come across the past few months, I highly doubt he has the capability to turn the ship even if the PM has helped him reduced the scope of his ministry.

1. BG Tan is a less controversial figure than Viv B or that fumbling Kee Chiu. This BG Tan has found favour with the establishment. Has done well with less visibility.

2. Kee Chiu is an unsightly figure. Too much exposure has gone to his head. Fumbles too much. Less sight and less say the better.

3. Lawrence is another dependable workhorse just like BG Tan. Get the work done with minimum fuss.

4. Grace Foo is a recognised lap dog in the making. Ever ready to jump to the master's calling. Will easily trade her dignity for more pickings. More crumbs coming her way!

Yes the shuffle makes sense. Viv B has been a BIG disappointment. Porn Liu is struggling but if he can clear the mess made by Raymond, then my hat off to him. Grace Fu is also struggling to clear the mess made by Mah and again if she succeeds she deserves her ministar. But the bigger performance issue concerns the PM himself. How can he allow things to slide to such a level??

Anyway, Vivian Balakrisnan is a walking dead already. Not worth a 2nd thought. Those who ever used words that demean our citizens usually will die prematurely. Josephine - lessor stock, Charles Chong - lesser mortal, Vivian - Hawker, foodcourt or restuarant, Lim Swee Say - cheaper better faster and unsurprisingly Kee Chiu Chan C S - XO carrot cake vs cheap carrot cake. Regardless of what you think, any of them can easily screwed up for the next 3 to 4 years. With influx of immigrants that caused various problems across the board, given another 100 PAP scholars to come onboard would be equally retarded as a sloth.

change the course set by the earlier big wigs who are still in the cabinet. Truth is, none of the
changes are significant. Just doing damage control after current Ministers are seen to be struggling .

I expect early elections to be called to bring in more " qualified " characters to appease a more informed public .

All that PAP needs to do is to listen to their heart and voice of the people. Discard the image
that it's only they who have the answers to everything.

Yaacob has his empire reduced significantly to almost nothing as Communication includes 90% Information, so his new ministry is really ministry of communication........ what a simple task paying so much money.
