Hiaming is a cheap and convenient way of showing she has high standards and, by association, she is also of a high standard.
When I hear a woman hiam east and hiam west, I immediately know she has an inferiority complex and she is attempting to camouflage her inferiority complex by selling her ideals to me.
For example, if she drives a BMW 320 and if that makes you feel inferior because you only ride a bicycle, then instead of showing admiration which you feel will 矮化 (undermine) you, your ego will enter into an offensive mode and attack the flaws of BMW 320 to dilute whatever advantage she may have over you. After that you start praising another brand, say Lexus ES, as if you can afford when, in reality, you cannot even afford the 4 wheels.
