[h=2]Siao Liao SMRT launch massive recruitement for PRC bus drivers! Pls stay indoor![/h]
TR Emeritus (TRE) has been tipped off by Singaporeans working in China that there is a massive recruitment exercise for bus drivers happening in China. It appears that multiple HR agencies and middlemen are recruiting PRC bus drivers on behalf of SMRT.
Following is an ad put up by Lianyungang Human Resources Service Co Ltd. Lianyungang is a prefecture-level city in northeastern Jiangsu province of China with a population of 4.8 million. The ad says it is looking for 300 bus drivers for SMRT. It was posted on baixing.com about 2 weeks ago (27 Mar): http://lianyungang.baixing.com/siji/a186094871.html

Nantong Shun Tang Business Consulting Co (南通顺腾商务咨询有限公司) looking for bus drivers for SMRT in Nantong. Nantong is a prefecture-level city in Jiangsu province with a population of 7.2 million. Application closing date was listed as 29 Mar. It listed its agent fee as RMB28,000, including airfare: http://www.job592.com/hot-nantong/zp575129/829094.html
Henan Zhonglong International Labor Cooperative Co (河南中龙国际劳务合作有限公司, www.zhonglonggj.com) in Puyang city of Henan province with a population of 3.6 million. Its website said it is approved by the Ministry of Commerce and is a large professional manpower supplier in combination with recruitment, training, supply and management. It is looking for 200 bus drivers for SMRT. Agent fee – RMB24,000. Interview was listed as in mid-Mar: http://www.zhonglonggj.com/show.asp?id=933
TRE would not be surprised that many other sub-agents and individual middlemen are also involved in “helping” to recruit PRC bus drivers for SMRT, given the “lucrativeness” of this labour supply business. Agents seem to be charging at least RMB20,000 (S$4-5K) per head. If an agent can help SMRT to recruit 50 or so bus drivers, he will be a millionaire in China overnight (in RMB terms).
It is not known what sort of agreements SMRT has with these Chinese labour suppliers. In any case, Singaporeans can expect to see more PRC bus drivers on the road in the next few years.
.
Editor’s advice: If you are crossing the road at a junction even when the traffic light ‘green man’ is flashing giving you the right of way, please look out for turning bus if you value your life.
