In fact, as I am writing this letter I am still at the kid's indoor playground. Instead, foreigners are the ones enjoying the facility. "I can't help but wonder, would these Caucasian children one day serve NS? Chances are, they will follow their parents back to their home country when their work stint here expires. "There's also a high chance they will finish their schooling here, take up all the space and enjoy the facilities here. Just before they turn 18 for NS, they will renounce their PR and move to US or Europe for further studies. "I went to the third floor and saw a group of Filipinas (see photo). At least 20 of them were enjoying bowling at the clubhouse. It, makes no sense to me because I am not a SAFRA member (I don't see why I need to pay to be a member anyway, because I did put in two-and-a-half years plus ICTs for this country - but that was before the government decided to give free one year free membership which won't start until April 2013)."So I am paying the same as the foreigners - Filipinos, Caucasians, whatever. SAFRA membership should be given free to all national service men. Why make us pay when the total membership fee is probably a small fraction of what it costs to build these places plus cost of maintenance. "Why are foreigners allowed to enjoy these facilities at the same rate as most locals here?"

Don't forget. For Safra membership, you get the first year for free, subsequent years they will auto deduct from your NS pay without your approval.

Past and present national servicemen will receive S$100 in vouchers from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in an NS50 Recognition Package.

The package was launched by Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen on Tuesday (7 Feb). The gift is part of Mindef’s year-long NS50 campaign to commemorate 50 years of national service.

The vouchers can be used at retail and food and beverage outlets. A dedicated portal – NS50.sg – will provide details about where the vouchers can be used.

Eligible national servicemen must be serving NS as of 1 Jan this year or must have completed their NS.

In addition, those who are serving or have completed their Operationally Ready National Service (ORNS) will get one year of SAFRA or HomeTeamNS membership.
