I think this is highly inappropriate........

Yes! you not suppose to hug a Muslim woman..

3. Customs:

Again, the only customs to observe when interacting with Muslim women (and I'm assuming that you're male) are to avoid shaking the women's hands or making any sort of physical contact. Observant Muslims avoid the sort of casual physical contact with the opposite sex to which we're accustomed here in America, such as shaking hands, hugging, etc.

Also, in terms of eye contact, you'll notice that observant Muslims will avoid staring at members of the opposite sex. This lowering of the gaze facilitates modesty and respect for the other person and shouldn't be interpreted as a lack of confidence or unfriendliness.

To conclude, gender etiquette among Muslims is not as complicated as you might think. As long as you avoid explicit or suggestive conversation, don't make physical contact, and maintain a respectful and modest demeanor, then interacting with Muslims of the opposite sex should not be a problem.

another friendly hug?

will it become a little more? maybe monday personal consultation?

well,,, hopefully that cost him some malay votes,,,

a harmless hug can always be misinterpreted and turned malicious and vindictive
it was a friendly and compassionate hug
nothing inappropriate or sinister about such a kindly gesture

Some muslim ladies I know refuses even to shake hands.... this is their belief....

I don't know why all the ruckus about this?? This Makcik is the one who allowed Dr Koh to hug her..and obviously on cue..still suprised?? The PAP always banks on the Malay vote..this is nothing new..many Malays support the PAP even though they have been screwed over by the PAP's race card politics for years..can't blame them either..how can you hate a Govt that dishes out Workfare / GST Bonus / Baby Bonus...

You want a biting and hateful islam? Good?

Islam is a religion of peace. Muslims should be peaceful, but not necessarily warm and friendly, that is for the infidels.

I didn't say a good muslim is a biting and hateful muslim did I?

Cheers!

maybe he lacks motherly love.

usual custom is a gentle handshake which sometime is to be avoided if the muslim is a young lady.

Yes correct. A gentle handshake or even a slight clasp with both hands for people older than yourself..then followed by the motion of hands moving back to you chest or heart...This hugging is not appropriate...I have seen only Tan Chuan Jin on TV doing it the right and respectful way.

You stop fornicating very good already, why worry about what Koh did during rally as if you are so moral or concerned about muslims?

Islam is a religion of peace, warm and friendly. Thats true Islam.

That prove that you & that Dr. Koh doesn't study, understand or know the culture & religions of the people. In Asian society it is not wise to hug the women, worse of all they are muslim, it is a very sensitive issue.

I won't hug & shake hands with any women, if I know their religion is Islam, surely her visible attire & head wear should already be a warning enough. This is call no tact, no sensitivity, smack of being arrogant & an attitude of I AM______ !!

Across the border, just a bus ride away, you do what he does..it will incite an instant riot. Fortunately, Islam here is peaceful, friendly & warm & we are much more tolerant.

Education does not maketh a man...wonder what does? choose wisely!
