Shoplifting is sometimes linked to mental health issues such as kleptomania, anxiety, depression or personality disorders. Sufferers may have an urge to steal items they don't need or can easily afford, experience increased tension before the theft and pleasure or relief during it. In Aug this year, an American CECA engineer, Kapadia Amatullah stole items from shops at Changi Airport while in transit. Her CECA husband who is a dentist, stole a Louis Vuitton card case holder and a bottle of Dior perfume, valued at over $750. A former engineer and repeat shoplifter, was found dead a day before her court appearance. She was facing multiple theft charges for stealing over $30,000 worth of items in 2015, including designer clothing.

skirt-lifting too.
Upskirt photos and videos are against the law, but simply looking
up as a girl in a mini-skirt goes up the escalator or stairs is ok.

I had a friend who kept stealing small items even though she didn’t need them. Later, she found out it was linked to emotional trauma from an abusive relationship. What helped her understand it better was reading about trauma bonding at https://mentalhealthhotline.org/trauma-bonding/. It made a lot of things clearer for her and helped her explain her behavior to her therapist.

I’ve seen some folks steal stuff not because they need it, but because something’s off in their head—like they can’t stop themselves even if they know it’s wrong.
I read that many shoplifters feel a compulsion to steal goods that they don't actually need or can easily afford, and only feel a relief or sense of accomplishment after successfully stealing these items.
