A shooting incident involving two sailors occurred on June 6, 2026, aboard the aircraft carrier PCU John F. Kennedy (CVN-79), the ship was docked at Newport News Shipyard in Virginia for builder's trials. One sailor died from injuries sustained during the shooting. while the other was placed in pretrial confinement in connection with the death.
