As Paste staff writer Shane Ryan has already documented, Shia LaBeouf has had plenty of media attention since appropriating the story of his short film HowardCantour.com from artist and illustrator Daniel Clowes’ work.
Since then, LaBeouf has earned a lot of criticism, and now the actor/director has turned to Twitter to make the Salingerian (or Bieberian) declaration that he is “retiring from all public life.”

LaBeouf tweeted twice more after announcing his retirement, first to state his appreciation for those who have supported him in the recent weeks before simply posting “#stopcreating.”
