She is WOMAN and don't you forget it! 70 years old now.............

Thanks for sharing this as she brings back wonderful memories. Unlike so many other famous stars, who could not handle the fame and fortune, she epitomise the desirable qualities one seeks in a human.

hi there

1. helen is some woman!
2. my favourite: me & you against the world.
3. a wonderful simple song that reflects plentiful in life.

She has one of the most musical voice and I love most her songs. Admire those wonderful qualities and proves that fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness.

It's not about money but fame and being in the spotlight that these stars cannot handle. Elvis Presley, MJ, Winehouse and etc., are a few but I do recall Davy Jones of the Partridge family who got burnt out who also pack up and disappeared to Hawaii.

yes... del shannon of ' runaway ' fame also killed himself ....and this is just the music side. Many sportspersons also cant handle their fame and end tragically.

I am sure many Spore women were inspired by the song "I am woman" & that the men of Spore continue to suffer in silence ;)

Could still remember buying a cheap counterfeit cassette of her greateset hits in New World amusement park. $1 meant I skipped lunch that day. What was remarkable about her singing voice is that it was exactly the same as her speaking voice. Anyone still rememeber the smell of rust on those cassette tapes?

This is the first part which you need to manipulate to see on youtube.

She is not the first however and I'd like to highlight another great singer who walked away from fame. She is also another Helen, and her name is Helen Kate Shapiro (born 28 September 1946) is an English singer and actress. She is best known for her 1960s UK chart toppers, "You Don't Know" and "Walkin' Back to Happiness".
