SHAH ALAM: A mixed martial arts athlete was charged and fined with RM1,000, at the Shah Alam magistrate's court today for attempting to seduce a businessman's wife.
Syed Mohamad Murad Syed Naseem, 28, clad in a suit, nodded his head to indicate that he understood the charge read to him by magistrate Siti Shakirah Mohtarudin.
Syed Mohamad Murad pleaded guilty to committing the offence on Apr 15 this year at his home in Denai Alam, with the intention to have sexual intercourse with the victim.
He was charged under Section 498 of the Penal Code for enticing a married woman for illicit intercourse.
Failure to pay the fine would lead to a month’s imprisonment. Syed Mohamad Murad paid the fine.
Based on the facts presented by Deputy Public Prosecutor Amira Zulkifli Haziqah, the woman's husband found that his wife had gone to the home of the accused.
He then filed a complaint with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS).
Haziqah Amira said that about 4.30am on the of the incident, JAIS raided the home of the accused and arrested the man and the complainant’s wife.
