[Sg video] - Come rate Chan Chun Sing's Closing Speech at Shangri-La Dialogue

@Charlie99 Your two cents' worth, please.
With respect, he should consider the following:
1. The Dale Carnegie public speaking lessons (and the students get to practise by making a speech at every lesson)
2. Coaching lessons to speak better English with a more neutral, and more pleasant accent.
3. Observe and learn from local speakers who speak with little reference to notes (have the notes, just in case his mind comes to a blank): Chee Soon Juan, Andre Low, Michael Thng
4. Consciously, avoid and drop his current accent, and mannerism.
If he desires to be DPM or PM, he must speak better English.

No need to aim so high lah, just let him attend a few Toastmasters sessions.

He is a fucking embarrassment.

SG Taking Side? Don't ever think about that!

I couldn't believe my eyes and ears when the news reports put up what Chan Chun Sing said in ShangriLa Dialogue.

First, he struggled with his choice of words but yet, ended up with a cold sweating description of how his counterparts were "cheered" by US Defense Secretary reiterated commitment to Asia Pacific region and looking forward to this being "translated into tangible actions".

Apparently he didn't look at the whole context of Pete's speech and lack the ability to anticipate China's rage over such positioning.

He has exposed SG in a very delicate and dangerous position which we, as a small nation, should never end up with.

The subsequent strong statements and reactions against Pete's speech, not only by the Chinese delegates but Chinese Embassy in Singapore as well as China's official Foreign Ministry spokesperson, should not be taken lightly. But here we have our Defense Minister Chan being exposed as standing firmly on US side even though we have not conflicting territory claims against China!?

As the host of this forum, it is inappropriate for CCS to make such comments.

While we appreciate US presence in this region has contributed much to our geopolitical stability in the past 60 years, we would just hope that its continuous presence and engagement in this region would continue to maintain balance and stability and hopefully not resulting in escalation of tensions. We also hope this forum could provide a platform to maintain dialogues between different stakeholders to manage their differences and risks of escalation of tensions or even help to deescalate tensions and worl towards common prosperity under peace.

Chan CS should stop talking off the cuff in such important event else we may end up with serious consequences.

Read and reread what was written. Then I read it again.

Still don't know what he's getting at.
