[Sg video] - 2 employees fight each other at YISHUN fruit shop, SPF couple called in

Fruit and durian sellers are mostly chow ah bengs.

When I was young, adults always toldme that durian and fruit stalls were operated by gangs because of the high margins. It is also for money laundering and retirement of some members. If you open one fruit stall near them, thugs will harass you. I am refering to doing business in shop units, not wet markets. Until today, it is still like that.

Sad but true. It is one of those easy jobs where they can show off their "ah bengness" without the need to think too hard. Occasionally they also get to display their mma fighting skills.

They won't harass you if you pay protection money.

i seldom hear about protection money. But some industries like fruit/durian stalls, recycling, M&E etc, you need to be backed, or competitors will get thugs to shut you down or stay away from tenders. Singapore pretty much still like that.
