S'pore car allegedly drives off with fuel nozzle still attached, damages Johor petrol pump

The petrol pump was yanked to one side

A Singapore-registered car allegedly caused a petrol pump at a Shell station in Johor, Malaysia, to be dislodged and damaged.

This occurred after the driver allegedly drove off with the fuel nozzle still attached to the vehicle, which apparently yanked the petrol pump forcefully to one side.

The aftermath of the incident, which occurred at around 10:15pm on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the petrol station located at Skudai Highway, 81300 Johor Bahru, was caught on camera by at least one other patron there at the time.

What happened
According to a Facebook post by the eyewitness, her parents were refuelling at the time when all of them suddenly heard a loud noise.

They then realised it was caused by a car with a Singapore registration plate that had driven off with the fuel nozzle from the fuel pump still attached to it.

The driver was seen immediately exiting the car to check out what had happened.

According to the eyewitness, a female staff stopped the car from leaving.

Fear petrol pump might explode
The eyewitness added that the fear at the time was that the petrol pump might explode.

According to a video shared by the eyewitness, a vehicle that was near the damaged petrol pump could be seen reversing after the petrol pump was damaged.

Two staff were seen running to the damaged petrol pump, and a driver was seen exiting a vehicle.

The eyewitness wrote in her post that even if the driver of the Singapore-registered car were to leave the scene, the surveillance cameras in the petrol station would have recorded the vehicle's licence plate.

The eyewitness claimed that the petrol station subsequently had to stop service and quipped that it was not known what grade of petrol the Singapore car had pumped.

She also said that the use of the mobile phone to record the scene at the time was a spur of the moment action, acknowledging that the use of mobile devices is prohibited while on petrol station premises.

Why was the low SES S'porean driver in such a hurry to leave the petrol station? Did he even pay for his petrol purchase?

Many people of today have very a short attention span and a very low situation awareness when they're outdoors, dumbed down by scrolling and watching too many TikTok short videos on their phones.
