[Sg] - EDMWers surprised that it's common practice for SPF to contact citizens via Whatsapp

I just want to ask if anyone’s gotten follow-up messages from SPF over WhatsApp after the initial contact. Curious how common this really is now, and whether there's an official statement confirming it's legit. Some folks seem okay with it, but others are still unsure—just wondering how everyone feels about the security of this approach today.

Few months back I actually got a message from SPF on WhatsApp and I also found it weird at first. I checked and saw it came from a verified account using the whatsapp business api, with the green tick and everything. Seems like they use it to make communication faster, especially for things like follow-ups or witness interviews. I replied and got a proper response, no strange links or anything.

IOs all use WhatsApp to contact for investigations.
But usually is after first contact made so IOs are already known to the subject

Putting your phone on flight mode most of the time and immediately block any contact from someone you don't know in real life, including and especially 'the authorities'. To hell with them.
