Too bad these kids were forced to waste their talents on propaganda rubbish.

There's always a few artistically inclined kids anywhere, in any generation.
 
When it comes to drawing, I opine it is either you have it in you or you don't. No amount of coaching can make you an artist. My schoolmates in the 60s and 70s were good examples. Same goes for soccer and some other sports.
