Stomper Khairul saw a driver fling rubbish into a drain in the middle of the road.
The Stomper was irked by the sight as he feels that there are sufficient dustbins around Singapore, yet people choose to litter.
Khairul said:
"Is it that hard to put your trash aside till you find a dustbin to dispose of it? Well, for this Singaporean, it is.
"According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), people litter because either their just plain lazy, deliberately doing it (because they want OTHER PEOPLE to clean up after them) or it's just a habit (that their parents fail to correct?).
"By contributing this article, I would just like to raise awareness. In this day and age, where dustbins are located almost everywhere in Singapore and laws have been implemented against littering.
"Yet people are still too ignorant to abide by the laws against littering. This is very disturbing as it shows how self-centered some Singaporeans are.
"How would you feel if you littered and an old auntie or uncle had to clean up after you? What if that auntie was your mother? Would you not litter because you empathise with her?"
