"The Security industry faces a serious manpower shortage, a point that security agencies, buyers of security services and the industry regulator all agree. Normally, when something is in short supply, the price goes up. But the typical basic wages of security officers (@$700 to $800) have not gone up for years, even though allowances and built-in overtime (12-hour days, 6-day weeks) bring typical gross monthly pay to around $1800 to $2000. The result is high worker attrition and turnover, lack of motivation and incentive to invest in technology and systems improvement, and operational capabilities and standards that become harder and harder to maintain or raise. To escape this trap, security agencies, security workers, buyers of security services, the industry union and the regulator must join hands to achieve sustained improvement in skills, productivity, outcome-based tendering, career progression, image as well as wages. We can also learn from better practices elsewhere to transform the industry. Only by committing to doing things differently can one rationally expect to get to a different result. And getting to a different result is a must. - Heng Chee How.

The Singapore Prostitute Holdings will never report the truth. Same like whenever any restaurant closed down, it is always because of 'manpower crunch', never because of skyhigh rentals.

this only shaows that singapore is not safe as what is reported by singapore fairytale media.
assuming singapore is safe, do u need security guards?
pls think,

At time can be quite risky too. Depending on the job scope and nature of ur client bu$ine$$.

This is the amazing power of the PAP. What they can do can even go against economics logic.

The trick is to anyhow give license to security companies and officers even though this industry is a licensed industry. Malaysians and former IMH patients also become security officers. How to have standards.

not true
I work as a security 'officer' before
once I was working in Asian Civilization Museum
we had to stand for 12 hours daily
(senang ah?)
I had to rush to the toilet to pang sai when we change floors to guard
(hourly we change floors, we have to be there all the time and cannot eat snake
there is a technician guard in the CCTV room who will watch u 12hours aday
when u cannot tahan and sit down
the guy inside will call u on the walkie talkie and ask u to stand up

other times I work for Jordan Industries
thr job was to record every lorry that come thru the gate
and the lorry come in almost non stop
Jordan Industries employ alot of Malaysian
who work in the coldroom packing meat stuff ready to be delivered to NTUC fairprice
one thing I din like was the Malaysian worker drove a black sports car
into the workplace on weekends with speakers boom boom bomm
In my mind I am thinking
'farking hell, u leech on this country so u can drive a beautiful car'

WTF when employee want to pay basic salary only $800/month and said shortage and very hard to hire new staff.
Why dont they up basic salary to minimun $1200/month then talk.

Need not be a rocket scientist to figure out the root cause of the problem - $$$$$, supply and demand.

I'm not biased against Malaysians. The whole purpose of getting foreign workers is to fill in the gaps and / or keep salaries low.

How the fuck can there be no manpower shortage when you expect people to work 12 hours shift 6 days per week with this type of pay that can barely, if at all, sustain a small family.

the $200 dollar pay hike promised by govt did not come. of course people are pissed. damn boring job too. aircon all off at night

security guards are so underpaid. they work long hours and boring jobs, but they don't get any benefits. most of which goes to the agent who use them. But hard truth as it is, most of them are minimally educated, and we see a lot of msians taking this job as well.
