I'm sure people will die without sheltered walkways. 
There are too many sheltered walkways in Sinkieland. They accumulate dirt and are an eyesore. Occasionally they leak too, defeating the purpose of building them in the first place - providing shelter from the rain.

Most of the lifts done in the 'upgrading' are fucked up Chinese brand ones. Besides safety issues, they are noisy and break down often.
Back in the day, at least HDB had the decency to install a proper Fujitec lift for each HDB block.
