There was a time not too long ago when Singaporeans cheer their team with all their hearts. You didn't have to force school children to cheer and support our sportsmen. Our sporting heros came from our schools and kampungs. You knew them or knew someone who knew them. There was enthusiastic support for our sportsmen and great pride among Singaporeans when they won. ...no amount of money can manufacture that.

You will never get this sort of fan support in Singapore these days or in the future. Other than playing against Malaysia, for the past years, the FT fans outnumber the local fans at the stadiums when we play one of our neighbours.

PAP would like to remind you that those times were dangerous years due to:

1) National Security - Msian infiltrators often posing as fans coming into spy on Singapore
2) Illegal gambling - No SPools to regulate gambling activities on football, a lot of revenue lost to illegal bookmaking.

Singapore is so much better with those days.

Neuter the population, take away the spirit, why do they care?

I remember when, time literally stood still, in coffee shops etc..where even those who never watched football, stopped to watch the Malaysia Cup moment...many of all us could ratltle off our tongues, the names of the players etc..

These are priceless moment of NATIONAL PRIDE in which S$3,000m can not even buy...

Those were the priceless moment of NATIONAL PRIDE
which no amount of money could buy.

Those who were not there stood beside their TV sets to cheer.

Literally, you could hear an entire HDB estate roared every time
when the Singapore team score!

Ya, missed those 70s-80s days..Majullah Singapura.

Get over it guys!

The Malaysia Cup and M-league were kelong to the core when S'pore was playing.

The bookies were the real winners, feeling warm and fuzzy with their takings...

Remember Abbas Saad, Michael Vana etc?

Let's face it Singaporeans are fair-weathered fans.

The crowd was small at the Old NS when S'pore was playing in the lower M-league and getting kicked around by the state teams.

Who could blame them? Who doesn't love to be associated with winners?

Who cares? SCORE! legalised gambling these days means S-League no gamble?

The past is made up of some much nice feelings in those days everybody
who does not gamble will feel it to the core.

Even as school kids we pool pocket monies to bet against those who say
Singapore would lose.

Those days no monies invested in sports, a generation of sports talents were
lost.

These days throw monies to buy national pride and nurture foreign talents. Do we need this?

Get over it guys!

Those were the days, almost 100% of Singaporeans cheered for Fandi and our National Stadium was filled to the brim. All eyes (young and old) locked in front of the TV, shops closes early and streets were quiet. Businessmen wanted to invest in Fandi which made him wealthy and his current status today.

Comparing the above to the table tennis china women who helped Singapore win the first olympic silver medal. There were so much quarrel in STTA, Lee Bee Hwa (MP of AMK GRC) who hardly joined more than a month as president in STTA, can't wait to steal the limelight and claim credit for her own by criticising the china coach before he even landed in Singapore from the game .. Singaporeans were not proud of what happened within the PAP camp and Vivian was seen aloof in Lee Bee Hwa Saga. The difference is, PAP buy the winners and paid them hefty, we hardly heard of any businesssmen keen in using them for commercial advertisement. There was no celebration by the republic. Eventually one of the china girl left Singapore to married her china husband. This is not least unexpected by Singaporeans.

We forsee YOG is likely to be, yet again, another PAP farce to look good. Thus they thought money can buy everything (including our hearts) for them. Fortunately Singaporeans felt it won't be any different from the STTA situation. Political figure put themselves heavily in such children game and wanted to buy Singaporeans support (not simply for the athlete but for PAP) such that if it turned out to be a resounding success (because of people unite) than Vivian and PAP will have much to boast about themselves and even employed them as "asset" for their election. The words Singaporeans being "daft", "ignorant", "lesser mortal", "unsportsmanship"...will continue to hang under their mouths. They will burned bridge again after crossing it. This is not a make-up stories and it already happened in the past, presence and certainly in the future. We can't wait to vote out PAP let alone supporting YOG since it is going to be the bridge for PAP. We rather burned it down first before letting PAP cross over. Thus No time, no mood and not interested. I want PAP to fail, not YOG.

We cheer and 100% support because of truth born local player . Now more than half are FT, why we want to support and cheer for them?
Even if the local team get 2nd spot all would cheer and carry them right.
Who will willing to carry FT player even if the are the winner/champion? Our ministers still don't understand the sportmanship. No cheating play with what we have to 100% effort even if losing.
Our ministers mind set is medal and willing to pay as much as they could. Don't care what others think? Or negative feedback about buying player/medal.
