Xenophobia and hatred happen because local establishments openly discrimate locals while embracing foreigners.

My experience at Singapore Seafood Republic located at Sentosa is one good example.

We made reservations for 4 and asked if we could sit outside. The staff told us upfront that the outside dining seats are only meant for 2 persons.

But the next moment, they make arrangements and immediately sat the pax of 4 walk in ang mohs (whom were right behind of us) at the outside sitting.
When questioned, the waitress was quick to say that "Oh. Its better to sit upstairs. It gets hot outside. We usually let walk in customers take the outside seats. Upstairs seats are better."

typically with new restaurants these days, reservations are for indoor dining and walk-ins are ushered to the patio.

in this case, the waitress cared very much about the sinkies' comfort and welfare, thus she sat them at the air-conditioned interior of the restaurant. she should be thanked for fully understanding the petty whimsical and fanciful behavior of sinkies when it cums to choping tables with tissues, dashing from air-con building to air-con building, carrying umbrellas under the sun, kpkb'ing when it rains and there's no covered walkway, and patting chairs and seats to try to "cool" them off after someone else has sat on it.

Lot of these restaurants will close shop once the foreigners are driven out. Not that their loss will be greatly felt since they hire lots of foreigners themselves and pay local staff dirt pay.
