I would not classify it as a vanity project. Unless you are seriously suffering from Pinkerton syndrome and the presence of a white person send you reeling with excitement it makes no sense.

She is a complete nobody. What is she going to learn and what huge revelation is she expected to expose that everyone from bubble tea Aunty to medical surgeon does not know about Singapore.

It’s not a state secret that Singapore is run along autocratic lines with full blown kleptocracy where laws are constantly tweaked to help an already compliant judiciary.

How is she going to enhance SDP profile? Gone are the Kampung days when the whole village gets excited because one of their sons married an Ang Mo after studying in the UK.

What Chee should do is issue an SD that he is not a getting penny or indirect benefits from this placement and the arrangements are at arm’s length.

SDP got to realise that such a vanity project like attending human right conference overseas, receiving foreign guests etc won't gain them any extra votes. In fact I think it will only serve to erode existing support.

It is a big deal. Chee has banged on PAP hiring foreigners--which is true. Yet he gives this Ang Moh Char Bor this internship. Why not to a Singaporean? Singaporean dare not intern with SDP? Then don't offer it to Ang Moh Chee!
