SINGAPORE: Hundreds of passengers were stranded after their flights on the budget airline Scoot were delayed.
Callers to the MediaCorp News hotline said flights from Singapore to Bangkok in Thailand and back, and flights from Singapore to Tianjin in China were affected.
One caller reported that more than 300 passengers were stuck at Changi Airport after their scheduled flight TZ88 to Tianjin did not take off.
A Scoot spokesperson said the issue arose when due to technical reasons, the airline was not able to accommodate 23 people booked on the Bangkok bound flight.
After unsuccessfully seeking volunteers, the last 23 passengers to check in were told that they could not board and would be given tickets on the next day’s flight plus compensation — in accordance with the terms and conditions they accepted upon purchase of their tickets.
The spokesperson said regrettably the 23 passengers would not accept the offer.
A large group of their friends who were already in the boarding area then became disruptive and would not let the flight board.
Eventually, after a lengthy delay, 23 other passengers agreed to travel at a later date and the aircraft left for Bangkok.
The aircraft deployed to Bangkok, upon its return to Singapore, subsequently operates to Tianjin.
The spokesperson added that because of the delayed departure to Bangkok, its return to Singapore was also delayed and, hence, the Tianjin flight too.
Some passengers who had checked in for the Tianjin flight returned home, while others stayed in the airport and have been provided meal vouchers and refreshments.
Scoot said it sincerely regrets the disruption.

You get what you paid for...cheaper fare, higher risk of travel disruption.

budger airlines are reallt not worth the stress and uncertainty

Expensive peesai air also like shit. Just because you kenna con pay high price doesnt mean it is good also. Iphoney and Samseng galaxy made in china dirt cheap but goondus are con into buying them thinking paying more means good. Actual fact is all phones are cheap to produce.

Due to to technical reasons. They could not accomodate 23 ppl. So out of the group of ppl flying to bkk 23 ppl were not allowed to board due to some reasons. Obviously their frens would be pissed.

This same plane that flies to bkk also flies back to singapore and then flies to tianjin. Nice there.

23 life jackets were stolen on the previous flight

Must be the "ah tiongs', they have never traveled out of China before & thought it was freebies. The report says something about PRC..always the case, protest, start a riot. Maybe ScOOT should consider putting them in the cargo hold.

I fly Scoot before, their seats are better than the rest of the budget airlines, and its not packed. It my preferred budget airline if I go to BKK :D:D:D

what happens if your flight gets delayed or you are one of the 23 not allowed to board?

Once again people need to learn through the hard way that cheap things are no good and good things don't come cheap.

In page 10 of Sunday Times of January 20, it is clearly reported that:

Witnesses said one group of passengers - believed to be mostly holidaymakers from China - were then asked to change flights en masse as they had not yet checked in.

However, they refused because some of their friends had already boarded the plane.

The police were then called after some members of the party allegedly became rowdy.

It really depends on the product or service. If cheap not good than why hawkers making money..? 2 buck chicken rice and sinkees line up already. Some expensive brands also are crap. Expensive doesn't always mean you are buying quality, sometimes only the branding is expensive but the product sucks.

Even if there is no problem you can tell that they are around because they are "loud". Don't really know why they have to talk so loudly:eek:

On a recent trip I had one ugly auntie stare at me, or rather scowled at me. I don't know why but it was scary:)
