Scoot flight bound for Perth circles back to Singapore after bomb threat

SINGAPORE - A Perth-bound Scoot flight returned to Singapore following a bomb threat on Thursday. It landed at Changi Airport at 6.27pm.
In response to queries, a spokesman for the budget airline said the plane departed at 4.11pm and a decision was made to turn back about one hour into the flight “due to a bomb threat”.
“The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) was activated to escort the aircraft back to Changi Airport. Emergency services were also activated.
“TR16 landed safely in Singapore at 6.27pm where security checks were carried out,” he added.
He said: “Scoot is assisting the authorities with their investigations. As this is a security matter, we regret that we are unable to provide further details.
“Scoot sincerely apologises for the disruption and inconvenience caused. The safety of our customers and crew is our top priority, and we will continue to provide assistance to our customers.”
The flight path of TR16 on flight tracking website Flightradar24 showed the Boeing 787 Dreamliner flying in circles off the coast of Malaysia before flying towards Changi Airport.
The flight, which had left from Terminal 1 at 3.30pm, was scheduled to arrive in Perth at 8.35pm.
However, an account called SquawkAlert on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, said it had made a 7700 squawk, referring to when a flight experiences an emergency.

SINGAPORE: A Scoot flight going from Singapore to Perth turned back to Changi Airport on Thursday (Oct 12) due to a bomb threat.
The plane was escorted back to the airport by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) aircraft, with emergency services also activated, Scoot said in response to CNA's queries.
Scoot flight TR16 departed on Thursday at 4.11pm Singapore time.
"About one hour into the flight, a precautionary decision was made to turn the aircraft back to Singapore due to a bomb threat."
The airline added that the plane landed safely in Singapore at 6.27pm and security checks were carried out.
"Scoot is assisting the authorities with their investigations. As this is a security matter, we regret that we are unable to provide further details," it said.
"Scoot sincerely apologises for the disruption and inconvenience caused. The safety of our customers and crew is our top priority, and we will continue to provide assistance to our customers."
According to data from flight tracker Flightradar24, Flight TR16 made a U-turn over Indonesia's Bangka Island and headed back towards Singapore about 30 minutes into the flight.
It then entered a holding pattern over the South China Sea east of Malaysia, flying in loops for about 50 minutes.
The plane subsequently flew over Batam before landing at Changi Airport on Thursday evening. As of 6.50pm, the plane appeared to be stationary near the southern end of Runway 3 and had not returned to a terminal.
While this was in progress, several flights to Singapore including Singapore Airlines flight SQ331 from Paris, United Airlines flight UA29 from San Francisco and IndiGo flight 6E1013 from New Delhi were put in holding patterns over the Riau Islands.
These flights began landing shortly after TR16 touched down.

Never, EVER, live in fear. That's what our Founding & Forefathers, whom had lived thru FAR worse times than today, but taught us well about the NATURAL Human emotion of courage & critically, the RULE OF LAW.

Enemies & the INSANE sadly will live amongst us, even Worldwide. There will be NO NEED to bow to such animals, otherwise the alternative is to live in FEAR, which is NOT what our Founding & Forefathers had taught us & gave us our today.

Thru our TECHNOLOGICAL advancements, it is ONLY a matter of time before the hoaxers will be found out. Just as they attempt to MISUSE tech for their own nefarious purposes, SO TOO CAN WE, whom seek to keep the Peace, to put them out of action & fortunately in Singapore, rehabilitation to start life anew.

WE, are watching & acting upon it.... May AG chambers be merciless in JUSTICE, as the HOAXERS had NOT be merciful to us, using the element of FEAR to disrupt & destroy our peaceful, honest & hardworking endeavors to put food on tables for loved ones...

Should he/she be a foreigner, the intelligence will be shared Worldwide for JUSTICE to be obtained. Should he/she be a local, there will be no escape. We will find you & incarcerate you. HOAXES are not jokes for fun, so too NECESSARY JUSTICE to protect INNOCENTS... This is SINGAPORE.

So, did they find any bomb on the aircraft? No. When will they wise up that these are always hoaxes. If any terrorist wants to blow the plane up, they would done so without any announcement.
