They took nude photos of themselves and sent them to two boys.
SANTINIKETAN, INDIA - Eight students - six girls and two boys - were suspended for allegedly sending obscene MMS to their classmates from their mobile phones.
The six girls reportedly took their own photographs in the nude with their mobile phones and sent them to two boys who were their classmates.
The school authorities threw them out of the hostel a week ago after informing their guardians of the incident.
The authorities came to know of the incident after another student staying in the same hostel complained against the girls. After a meeting with the guardians of the guilty students on Sep 4, the students were sent home for an indefinite period.
“This is very unfortunate as the minor students are being exposed to such obscenity. We are trying to find out others who may be involved in similar activity,” said a senior teacher at the school.
Use of cell phones is banned inside the campus but some students continue to use them.
“The students who violated the rules and broke discipline have been sent home. We are conscious about the fact that such activities can harm the normal development of children,” said the principal, Mrs Bodhirupa Singha.
Some teachers and officials said such incidents are taking place as there is no infrastructure to counsel children who are stepping into adolescence and puberty.
