According to STOMPer Redhill Crawler, a pedestrian was knocked down at a traffic junction along Jalan Bukit Merah yesterday (Apr 30) at about 8:45pm.

The STOMPer sent in an email on what he had witnessed at the junction near Redhill Close.

He wrote: "A serious accient occured on Apr 30 at about 8:45pm at the traffic light crossing along Jalan Bukit Merah.

"This was at the crossing from Bukit Merah Town Centre to Redhill Close.

"As I heard from the crowd of onlookers, an school girl was knocked down by a Toyota Rush vehicle at the traffic light.

"She was thrown at about the distance of 10 metres from the stop line of the traffic light. She was then sent to hospital by the ambulance.

"Following that the Traffic Police also came down to proceed investigation with the driver.

"Last time there was no traffic light junction at this location.

"Ever since the traffic light was been erected, quite many accidents have occured there.

"I hope the Town Council and Traffic Police would do more traffic awareness at this traffic junction so that pedestrians would be safe at all times.

Actually, there should be an investigation as to who approved the installation of that traffic light.

There is just one overhead bridge there for many years Till recent months, that traffic light was set up along with many many more in the small island of Singapore.

So many cars are on the road , just to wait for a few people to cross the road, while there is already an overhead bridge there.

Maybe some one received some incentive from the oil companies to boost the demand for petrol in Singapore by setting more traffic lights, more detours and so on.

Cars have to be responsible on the road, so must pedestrians.

Last time "No traffic light" not the reason.
Are the driver blind? Why they cannot see the light? Good luck to the driver hit people on pedestrain crossing should sent him to jail one week and licence cancel with immediate effect.

1 week jail term only so cheap meh?
make sure he pays for the injured victim's medical fees or funeral fees if dead.

Just on the opposite direction at the traffic light there should still be a traffic police request for witnesses for a recent April serrious accident happening around 11.XX am. Drove by that day around 12noon and saw blood on the road and a car park by the right lane. Then talked to the SPC petrol uncles. They claim to witness 3 to 5 accidents since the traffic light was up! This is a jinx spot. I try to avoid by going via the Bukit Merah bus interchange road where possible. Also on extra alert when coming out from Redhill lane into main road. Possible invisible hand may cover my eyes when looking out for traffice when coming out.
