I am glad that the transport fares are going up. As a shareholder of SMRT, SBS and ComfortDelgro, I can sleep better at night, knowing that the government is taking good care of us shareholders. I used some capital gains from the shares and the annual dividends to offset my transportation costs. If the average sinkie spent as much time doing their financial planning as they do cursing the good government at the coffeeshops, they wouldn't be that upset too.

Raising fares 'amidst an environment of rising costs' is not going to make things any better for the people, is it?
