Sarawak Chief Minister approves RM1 million for ex-DAP leader’s cancer treatment – Bernama

MAY 15, 2014

The Sarawak government has approved aid amounting to RM1 million to meet the medical expenses of former Sarawak DAP chairman Wong Ho Leng who is suffering from cancer.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said today the aid was given on humanitarian grounds following a request from Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen.

"I have instructed the (State) Ministry of Finance to issue a cheque for RM1 million (to cover Wong's medical expenses)," he said when winding up his speech at the state assembly in Kuching.


Wong, the assemblyman for Bukit Assek, had been suffering from brain cancer since last year and requires treatment in Singapore.

He was brought back to Sibu recently and is said to be in a coma. – Bernama, May 15, 2014.

Uh,,,this is a form of corruption,,,,,,,,,a proper country will have a set list of health benefits for ex politicians like for eg, pension plans or $8.00 heart by pass,,,but this is ridiculous,,,if the ex politician cant afford to pay for his own treatment than he should not be receiving any,,,why burden the tax payers? and he has cancer,,he wont live long no matter what one does and the only beneficiary will be the medical companies,,,mudlanders are really one kind,,,

In the UK, the leader of the opposition is a paid position. He has an office as tbe leader of her majesty's loyal opposition. You can spend an entire career as an opposition leader and be knighted on retirement. At the opening of parliament , the PM and Leader of Opposition walk in side by side. In real first world democracies , the opposition is recognized as a benefit to country. Singapore isn't first world.

Singapore isn't first world.

That is why WP talked about a first world parliament.

PAP supporters twist it to mean WP MPs have to be first world. Not that opposition MPs don't have to be first world MPs, but "first world parliament" is not "first world opposition MPs". It means the parliament system itself have live up to the parliaments around the world's first world countries.

For that matter, even PAP MPs are far from being first world MPs.

Once you serve state government, their perogative on medical expenses.some states insist on local medical only. But once elected, you get free medical.

Plus got pension if lose next election. Medical benefit for life even if you lose.
