This toasted Galaxy S2 almost cost a user his manhood

A Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone has allegedly combusted in a user's pocket, just days after an iPhone 4 handset had to be 'extinguished' on an aeroplane. The Galaxy S2 user reportedly heard a sound before feeling a burning sensation in his trouser region (which in our experience usually requires a trip to 'the clinic').When he pulled the top-level Android phone out of his pocket it was smoking, claims a friend who posted pictures of the charred remnants of the two-week old phone on the XDA Developers' forum.
Almost lost the family jewels
"My friend almost lost his nuts! He said he heard a sound, [felt] a burning sensation on his leg and as he pulled this piece of junk out of his pocket he smelled burning," posted Silly22."There was smoke coming out of his pocket and out of the phone. He said he was scared."My friend didn't even own this phone for two weeks before it nearly burned him! He said he wasn't even using it; [it was] just idling in his pocket and [he]hadn't been used for a while."
Taking 'copying the iPhone' to a new level
The spontaneous combustion comes in the same week that an iPhone 4 handset began "smoking" and "glowing red" during landing on a plane in Australia. We know Apple has accused Samsung of copying the iPhone 4 in a series of lawsuits, but surely this is taking it a bit far?

Nobody puts a Samsung S2 in their front pockets. Its just too big.

Not everyone has deep pockets, in a literal sense. I certainly don't want want to carry around those big phones.

My simple handphone is a Sony Ericsson is about 10 years old & the only thing I'll be replacing is the new battery.
In my opinion, not everyone needs the power of a smartphone. The only only thing I'm unhappy about my handphone is the limitations on the number & length of notes I can create. I often reach the maximum number as well as the length of each note

Yeah, if I were to carry around one of those big phones, everyone I meet may think I'm "happy" to see them. :o

u send your long notes to who? Mine are usually just yes, no, maybe, later, soon, etc.................... :p

Some of the stuff is a list of public holidays for a calendar year, prices, titles of books I want to check out, impt dates, addresses, product numbers, prices, urls, herbs, supplements ...., anythings that I want to follow up on the internet, etc. Free form notes is the most handy way to record all this info. Unfortunately my phone is limited to only 25 notes & each note is limited to 10 lines.

The fault is usually in the battery and all phone manufacturers source their Lithium Ion batteries from the same set of suppliers.

A bad batch of batteries could affect any number of phone brands if the fault lies in the electrolyte.
