HTC was O2.

No. From what I know O2 is a phone distributor like Singtel, M1,... while HTC is the manufacture of HTC branded phones.
HTC decided to market it's own phones to have more control over how they phones are being sold.

Yes I think Htc was a contract manufacturer for display which successfully went through vertical integration. The up and coming brand Dopod (another phone manufacturer who moved into marketing) was acquired by them...

HTC Saw Sales Revenue Plunge Over 30% YoY in Q1
2012/04/10

Taipei, April 10, 2012 (CENS)--The Taiwan-based HTC Corp., a globally known supplier of smartphones, saw its sales revenue for the first quarter of this year sharply drop 34.93% year-on-year (YoY) to only NT$67.79 billion from, according to the company’s latest financial statement.

The statement shows that the company’s operating incomes and net profits amounted to NT$5.099 billion and NT$4.464 billion, respectively, in the quarter, with the operating margin shrinking to only 7.5%. Meanwhile, the first-quarter EPS (earnings per share) hit a 7-year low of NT$5.35.

A flipside of the lackluster business performance is that HTC’s March revenue recovered to NT$30.879 billion, down 16.62% from a year ago but sharply up 52% from a month ago, with the recovery mainly fueled by the launch of the company’s cutting-edge smartphone models, HTC One series, which, including high-end One X and One S and entry-level One V, have hit the market in the month.

The One X and One S have received raving reviews from overseas news agencies since their debut, which are regarded as the Taiwanese company’s aces in the hole to fight back against Samsung and Apple in the increasingly competitive market for smartphones during the second quarter.

Institutional investors projected HTC’s smartphone shipment for the first quarter at between 6.5 million and 6.8 million units. Buoyed by the One series, the shipment figure is likely to double to 12 million units in the second quarter.

However, the investors also warn that whether the company’s shipment can experience such a strong growth in the second quarter will count on whether the current shortages of Qualcomm’s MSM8960 and MSM8260A chipsets, which go through the advanced 28 nanometer manufacturing process and are adopted by HTC in its One S, One X and EVO 4G LTE, will be eased or not.

Some market observers opine that HTC will manage to uphold its shipment growth by focusing promotion on One X and One V as an alternative strategy to cope with the shortages of the said needed chipsets.

i feel that my s2 is more than adequate. wonder if the next one, s3, will be worth the upgrade?

From what I remember, HTC was OEM for O2 until they started releasing phones under their own name.

Full restore is the last option.

Bro, there are few possibility that yr iPhone is getting slow. For example, both yr notifications and location services are kept on. Wifi and Bluetooth is switched on. Adjust yr brightness to the low band.

Try to clear all back-end programs as they require battery juice to run.

HTC stands for Hitachi right?

Nope. Hitachi is Jipun Company. HTC is Daiwanese company. HTC = 宏達國際電子股份有限公司

They were doing well enough during the Windows Phone era. They didn't transition well into the Andriod era. Besides Iphone, the last 2 years was all Samsung. Maybe the new version of Windows can save them.
