Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debuts in Taiwan
2016/08/19 18:37:47

Taipei, Aug. 19 (CNA) Samsung Electronics launched sales of its new flagship Galaxy Note 7 on Friday in Taiwan, one of nine world markets in which the smartphone was released for the first time.
"We are glad Taiwanese consumers can get ahead (of the global market)," said Celia Yu (余倩梅), a senior marketing manager at Samsung Electronics Taiwan, during the launch in Taipei's commercial Xinyi District.
The Galaxy Note 7 also debuted in its home country South Korea, Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Dubai and Mexico the same day, Yu said.
She predicted that sales of the Galaxy Note 7 will be 20 percent higher the previous version, the Note 5, which was released in 2015.
Yu said Taiwanese consumers, who gained access to 4G smart phones two years ago when 4G wireless telecommunication services were launched in the country, are about to enter a two-year cycle of device replacement.
As a result, "the buying momentum (for the Note 7) seems promising for the second half of the year," she said.
The Galaxy Note 7 is water resistant and dust tight and is equipped with a 12-megapixel camera with dual pixel autofocus.
Among high-end Android phone brands in Taiwan, Samsung is the top seller, according to Yu.
