Samsui women played a pivotal role in the nation building of Singapore at the beginning stage. They were employed as construction workers from China in the building industry. They could be distinguished with the red bandanna that they wore over their heads while toiling at construction sites pushing trolleys of cement or carrying loaded pails on their shoulders. They even bring their own cooked lunch and tea for lunch. They were very frugal. Most of them remained unmarried.
Is it possible for anyone to post pictures of these hardworking ladies in their tradional garb?
Don't you think that these ladies should be highlighted for their past contributions.

How about tghe Bangalahs? Aren't they doing the same job now?

Their time was very different from the others who are doing the job today. In those hardy days everything was physical as compared to today where every activity is mechanised.

pls lah, they are history, dun dwell on the past, look forward such as how to help sinkies find back their balls..and teach them how to use their brain creatively rather than looking at the signboard..... this is the true nation building at this time.

True nation building is convincing the 60% that they are sacrilegiously wrong in voting for the PAP !
