KUALA LUMPUR: You don't often see Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah rendered speechless, but that was exactly what happened when a man decided to criticise her way of dressing on a live talk show.
The young politician was the guest of the day on former Hot FM DJ Faizal Ismail's talk show #FBILIVE, which was broadcast in real-time on May 22.
The caller, who introduced himself as ‘Azrul,’ advised Nurul Izzah to be more mindful of the way she dresses, adding that the upper part of her blouse is "exposed" when her headscarf is swept aside.
"YB's tudung is sometimes swept aside, you know, so sometimes we can see the top part (of your clothing).
"Especially when you wear a kebaya, it's tight, so the top part is visible," he added.
Nurul Izzah looked at host Faizal in disbelief for a brief moment, before both of them awkwardly thanked the caller for his input.
However, Azrul was not done.
As the show's host attempted to end the call by thanking Azrul for his "advice", Azrul went on to say the following: "We can see your underwear. We can see your breasts."
Though the call lasted less than a minute, a video clip of the segment has gone viral on Twitter.
Netizens – both men and women – are livid. Many criticised Azrul's inappropriate public remarks, calling him out for his "perverted" mentality and "lack of self-control."
They came to Nurul Izzah's defence, saying that the caller totally overlooked the MP's accomplishments by reducing her worth to the way she dresses.
