Water is an important resource to keep Humans alive, & Singapore, being a strategic location even in weather terms, do have availability of water resource when combined with our own water reservoirs in Mandai & Johor which our Founding Fathers were smart to make a deal with.

However, TO HAVE CLEAN water, it will take a lot of ENERGY to process it, & in such times of Worldwide turmoil beyond our control that resulted in higher energy & water infrastructural prices.

18% price hike may seem astronomical at 1st look & will have many citizens up in arms.

However, the reality is that the average household water bill per month is between $25 to $50 per month. A hike of up to 18% means only a additional $9/mth which is NOT frightening. It would probably mean just skipping one a Bak Chor Meal at Paya Lebar Quarters mall, but that ONE $9 will be enough to cover PUB expenditures for CLEAN water to each home, leaving NONE behind.

Also, it is NOT a reason to for a food stall to rise its price of $9 to $10.50 over presumption of higher water bill, as food stalls while need water for its soup & cleaning on a larger scale than a household, but with ECONOMY OF SCALE, the final water bill is only 18% rise PER month & NOT per day.

Assuming its water bill is $300/mth - with 18% rise = $354/mth or a mere $1.80/day to serve at minimum 200 customers per day, thus its water usage per customer is 0.009cts/customers. Those who attempt to rise prices unconscionably MUST be avoided.


As ENERGY & material costs are on the rise, perhaps PUB executives can look into cleaner & cheaper energy forms - such as Hydrogen fuel cells & innovative material science for better, cheaper & lasting water infrastructures to be built. No mortal is a genius, thus those executives will HAVE to sit down & discuss with professionals in such fields to find the best solutions than to push for a price hike, even if small as it may become the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back in our National compact.

Ultimately, water is an important resource. It behooves EACH Human to save water & not use it frivolously. None can predict WHEN the NATURAL phenomena of Draught comes.

But that FEW DOLLARS will go a LONG WAY to sustain our Singapore Civilization WAY OF LIFE - of CLEAN water & sustainability for innocent generations to come, as our Founding & Forefathers had done for us.

For profiteers whom intend to make use of this period of necessary hikes for sustainability, they WILL be found out. Already, govt committees had been reconvened to look into such matters. The committee may seem small, but NEVER, EVER DOUBT the ability of our govt. During the COV id19 pandemic era, many in thousands had been roped in to ensure that anti - COV rules were adhered to, even as employees in establishments. So too can the same be done in these difficult but not unsurmountable time by being gainfully employed.

The best supporter of check & balances over profiteers is oneself. Knowledge is power. Knowing the basic costs of products & services in comparison with others will make one realize if one is being cheated or not, & the internet was built for this, to spread knowledge to others so that others may not fall into the same predicament, & behooves biz entrepreneurs big or small, to behave responsibly or else, suffer the consequences of closing down.
