My reading is that you and a couple of people were very much responsible in dividing the opposition parties. Of pitting one against another, conveniently forgetting that the focus should be on the common enemy- PAP.

It is pointless to take about who started it because it only takes a wise and clear-headed person to put a stop to it, but you did not and instead did all your could to fuel the feud; with your numerous sarcastic and almost condescending posts on "WP Bahru".

The young WP crowd at that time was behaving no differently from the PAP. It was not not just criticisms - which is fair and acceptable - but the continual taunting, denigrating, condemnation of not just the SDP but other opposition parties that was a huge turn off for many and not just me.

Threats of defamation suits and actual police reports by the WP crowd were made against forummers in a bid to shut them up and threaten them into submission. When they do such things, the obvious question to be asked is whether they are then any different from the PAP and whether they should be treated any differently from the PAP.

I am more than happy with what I did but cannot take full and all credit for the present outcome which is that the WP crowd and their supporters like Scroobal are much better behaved and circumspect in what they do. Consequently, you don't see the supporters of the other political parties responding with the passion and ferocity that they did in that last forum.

This forum has become a I hate PAP campaign. Allowing people to rant, complaint and tear at every single policy they make. Without this channel of release, I shudder to think what would happen next:p

I think I should point out that most of us have been fooled by the so-called "warring states" factions that were fighting out in SBF at that time.

In reality, many of those clones and nicks that claimed to be SDP or WP supporters were not genuine supporters. They were merely trying to play up forummers against each other and degrade the content of the forum.

Many people here were taken in and actually believed WP supporters were behaving like hooligans and SDP supporters were behaving like gangsters. It was however nothing more than a show.

Later a couple of those "warring states" faction set up Wayang party, which later became Temasek Review. TR is a website that has an agenda to play up Reform Party.

The amateurish flamebaits and trademark signature styles of the clones and nicks were dead giveaways. In fact, I did not pay them much heed and many of them were on my ignore list.

I was referring to the period when the WP members and their supporters were on cloud nine. I know many of them and some of the supporters personally.

As I said, I am happy to let bygones be bygones. The only reason why I joined this thread is because I stumbled upon it whilst searching for something.

What I find intriguing is that Reform Party's Kenneth Jeyaretnam's arrogance overwrites all of them's combined together, but some selectively choose to support him instead. I don't think it is as simple as arrogance. Let me just say that if RP is the top scoring opposition party in GE 2010/11, you will see what happened to WP 2001 - 2010 happen to RP in 2011 - 2015 - even more easy to target since the leader chap doesn't know how and when to keep quiet.

Agree on the comment about KJ's level of arrogance. But the situation is different with him because his supporters are generally well behaved, and KJ has confined his arrogance to facebook. Another difference is that those who have "sparred" with KJ in facebook are using their real identities and naturally will not let it over-spill into other areas. Those who "sparred" in the old SBF mostly used psuedonyms.

I agree with Thick Face Black Heart, there were too much noice and imposters and double agents in the delphiforums. Noone is sure of anyone's idnetity, for the most part. You might claim to support SDP or WP but actually totally for PAP.

Lets move on. the Past is the past and I dont think we should dwell too much in it. I can see that the old pettiness is still there but can this pettiness benefit anyone? Perhaps PAP and whomever want to see the oppositions fighting among each other.

Sigh what is past is past, dead and buried like Mrs Lee :_)) I dare say I do miss Ptader and even dear old QXP before his identity got ferreted out. The cut thrust and debate was fine, whether it was to Pro WP, not Pro SDP, was irrelevant to the extent that it lent to debate and a healthy one at that.

I believe things just when downhill when things got to personal, with cyber stalking and threats, especially when the Press began to report personal on line attacks off line.
