SINGAPORE: A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) vehicle carrying a foldable longspan bridge collided with an SMRT bus along Mandai Avenue on Monday (Jan 11).
In a media release issued early Tuesday, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said it is currently investigating the incident.
“Safety is the top priority for MINDEF and the SAF. Military vehicles follow the Land Transport Authority’s guidelines on public roads and travel on routes approved by the authorities,” the media release said.
No other details of the incident were provided.
A foldable longspan bridge is used by the SAF to construct a wide roadway for vehicles to help troops move over obstacles and gaps like riverbanks. An 11-man platoon can bridge a gap of 45m in under four hours.
