Have heard of an ex-SAF OS from McKinsey recently retrenched (CNY talk cock)

Any other stories?

Those that did well all either broke bond or left early....many working overseas.
SAF/SPF 'harder' to leave....most end up never leaving.

The top tier scholarships have been designed and tweaked over the years to ensure that the best remain. Their payscale for the exact grade in the early stages are different and not revealed. The only exception are those who are from very rich families and have considerable wealth and money is not an issue or an incentive. There has only been one notable exception and his family wealth is considerable. He left but was brought back as an MP. Thats Ong Kian Min. The poor and mediocre performers are the ones that leave when they realise after the first 5 to 10 years that they are not up to the mark. They are not forced out. And some remain. There are some who are good but due to language issues find it hard to keep up and leave. The odd thing with the top scheme is that system caters for the individual rather than the individual working for the organisation. This is where the smart ones game the system.

Ong Kian Ming keeps a pretty low profile as an MP... which is probably a wise thing to do, given his attention seeking peers like "British English" Vikram Nair, "Kee Chiu" Chan Chun Seng, "I can't see my children grow up" Tan Chuan Jin and Tin Pei Ling (I don't know what to say) aren't doing too well in the PR department

As for those SAFOS who remain, most reach at least COL rank regardless.... isn't that right?

Lim Ming Yan is doing very well. He left after 1st contract to join Pidemco Land, which is part of Capitaland now. Did very well as CEO of Capitaland China, though his liver suffered tremendously. He's back in Singapore, waiting in the wings to see if Liew Mun Leong retires. He is a good example of a SAFOS doing well on his own merit. Very nice man, no airs.
