S$5,000 reward for info on 'arrogant cyclist'

Friends of a driver, who was taunted by a cyclist, have put up a S$5,000 reward for information on his identity.

SINGAPORE : Friends of a driver, who was taunted by an "arrogant cyclist", have put up a S$5,000 reward for information on his identity.

The driver, who only wanted to be known as Madam Tan, was making a left turn into Whitley Road from Thomson Road on February 10, when the cyclist dashed across the road in front of her car.

The 50-year-old manager “got a shock” but managed to stop her car in time to avoid hitting the cyclist. However, instead of moving off, the man, who was wearing a yellow jersey and sunglasses, stopped his bicycle and started gesturing at her.

The incident was captured on Madam Tan’s in-car camera and the matter was reported to the police.

When the police said a week later that the cyclist could not be identified, Madam Tan’s friends decided to take matters into their own hands and post a video of the incident on the Internet, along with a S$5,000 reward for information on the cyclist.

While it was not Madam Tan’s idea to post the clip or offer a reward, she does not think her friends are over-reacting.

“The danger is real. This arrogant cyclist posed a danger to himself, and worse, other road users,” she told a local paper.

“Had I not been able to stop in time, I would have to live with the guilt of hurting someone.”
